Went to work at 4am this morning all was well. Swmbo just phoned to say it won't open? Makes the unlock noise but nothing opens, told her to climb threw the boot (only lock) which she does. Trys to start it and nothing! All dash lights are there but it won't turn and there's no clicking from the starter. I had the fuse thing on top of the battery a while back and sorted that, had a new battery at the same time.

So short of £2 and a box of matches any ideas?

EDIT: as I was typing she jumped it and it's running. Could it be the alternator that's had it?

The connector on the big cable going to the alternator is prone to failure so it could be that.

I'm away all week so hopefully it'll keep running till I get back and check it out!

Stupid thing must know it's getting close to new car time

Has to be something basic if it started when she jumped it. If it was an immobiliser problem it would have started at all.

It wants £2 of petrol and a box of matches throwin at it! If it's not actin up, some ***** nickin bits off it.

Can't have owt these days so I'm gonna get a deawoo matiz!

and a big ******* bat and catch the little ***** that keep damaging it!

She tried both keys, I assumed a battery had failed in 1, but they were both doing the same.
