Miracle of modern technology

Featured Replies

Arrived at work this morning and it looked as though it was going to be a scorcher. Car parked out in the open in the full glare of the sun. So I left all 4 windows open about an inch each.

Sat at my desk having a sandwich, look out of window: AAGGHHH ITS RAINING! Huge great raindrops, each one the size of an orange :o

Dashed outside getting p1$$ wet through to discover that my dear Octavia had dealt with the problem all by itself. All 4 windows firmly shut. :)

How could I have doubted it?

Great stuff, though you know you could've raised all windows using your keyfob too?

I know but I had to get near enough to do it - there is a building in the way :giggle:

Nice - auto-close coding via the rain/light sensor clearly works correctly on the FLs then!

Can't get it to work on mine, which is a slight annoyance, but hardly the end of the world :)

In contrast, last baking hot Sunday afternoon, as the family was finding its way back to the car from Borde Hill gardens and adventure play park, I thought I'd be clever by winding all the windows down in preparation for their arrival, and also to freak out my wife who would automatically assume the car has been robbed, when I got to the car the wife and kids were standing around smirking because I had forgotten about the kids window blinds that were all snarled up in the internal window seals and had stopped the windows fully opening - took ages to extract them while everyone complained about the car being hot! Oh well...

Sounds like reason enough for some 'proper' rear blinds from the Skoda accessories catalogue, or Vanstyle Les!

Points for effort though :p

I wish I had this but didnt go for auto lights or wipers as im too cheap!

the rain-sensing auto windows feature has saved me on numerous occasions too, not failed once.

hence no need for any ugly weathershields :)

to get it to work on mine, i set the wiper stalk to position '1'(auto wipe) & the light switch to 'auto'. this combo does the trick nicely, everytime.

Not just me then. I poured water over the sensor and was miffed not to see the windows go up :'(

You do have to wait a certain period of time from locking before it works. Can't remember how long but it's around 2-3 mins iirc

It's great, isn't it?

Except... when you've left your dog in the car, and deliberately left the windows open... :S

I don't think there's any way you can temporarily disable it, is there?

Will try it again some time, but as I have never hooked up vag com I don't know what the previous owner had set

Ah-hah! So, would making sure the wipers and lights are completely off stop it from auto-closing? That would be useful.

It can be disabled in maxidot.

To get it to work on mine I do nothing. I don't have auto lights just the rain sensing wipers and they were definitley in the off position.

Only thing I did was push the little button on the door pillar to disable the internal alarm sensors

Ah the anti wet arse feature, mine does it nearly staright away. When i pull out the key and it's raining about 10 seconds you can hear each relay in the doors clicking to make sure windows are up. The car isn't even locked.

Anyone know if this works on pre-FL II's?

I'm guessing if you used these the window motor would cut out safely if the auto-up function kicked in?

Had forgotten about this feature as well the other night when it started to rain, I ran for my key and looked out of the kitchen window to find the windows had closed themselves. Felt good explaining to the others how this works emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

Maybe. Coding it up hasn't worked on mine, or a few others I know who've tried.

Believed to be down to which controller type you have.
