History: 21 Feb 2011 (week 8), ordered Skoda Fabia SE hatch, 1.2 TSI 105 PS with DSG in Pacific Blue with options cruise control, spare wheel, black protective side mouldings and rear parking sensors.

Build week 24 build (13 -17 June) and arrived at dealers 28 June (week 26) so 16 weeks from order to delivery.

Went to see it today (fantastic) and to finalise Tax and payments etc.

Had planned to pay cash (from savings) but finance guy talked about Solutions with Max deposit (30%) and final value of £530.

Sounds crazy BUT we plan to keep the car for 5 yeas min so do not want to use the 3rd year figure as trade in.

This way keeps most of my savings in the bank but with high monthly repayments and a £60 settlement cost.

I'll be loosing some interest because my savings will go down to pay the monthly payments BUT with Free Servicing, it works out at a few tens of ponds more to go the Solutions route. BUT, if the interest rate on my savings were to go up over the next three years, then Solutions is a few tens of pound CHEAPER.

We get to keep the bulk of our savings "in case". Also, I think I heard the guy say if we cancelled after 6 months, the free servicing stays!

We are away on a break so will pick car up 12 July.

I'd have thought the interest payments on the finance would be much higher than what you could get on a savings account?!

To be honest if it was only 'tens of pounds' difference and I had the cash I'd just pay up front and be done with it.
