Octavia Scout EGR 'bump'

Featured Replies

Hi All, I have a Ocy Scout FL 2009 2ltr TDi and its been diagnosed with 'EGR bump' eg - a large drop in power when setting off in first gear, so I then have to ride the clutch/revs to stop it stalling. Is the problem only on the Scout or is it on other cars fitted with the 2ltr TDi engine with DPF ? Anybody found a way around it ? and does it affect other VW group cars. cheers - Stuart :S

Mine seems fine. I can pull away on tickover.

Haven't heard or any EGR issue described as a 'bump' before. Do you have any diagnostic logs or error codes, to pinpoint the issue?

In any case, it's under warranty still isn't it? On an 09.

Thanks for the replys lads, yes its still under warrenty and dealers/skoda have diagnosed 'EGR bump' and so given up as a 'chararistic' of the car, vagcom finds no faults listed so its a case of trying another Scout to see if its the same as mine and nobody came forward the other week when I posted for help and when the dealership has one they are sold very quickly so no help there. cheers - Stuart.

I see you're fairly local to me. Which dealers have you used?

The one thats replaced Horners !

Ah right, Hobin. They're pretty good by all accounts. Was just wondering about you getting a second opinion.

Claybank I wouldn't bother with for aftersales and Simpsons Colne/Preston are a bit of a drive. Simpsons would be who I'd recommend within reasonable distance though.

Tried switching OFF the ESR and it drives better especially around corners in first gear so I wonder if the ESR module is faulty or one of the sensors ? :wonder: cheers - Stuart

Common fault. It's a programming issue. Where are you based?

I'm guessing that since he asked the question back in 2011 he's either fixed it or given up :D

Lol ^ :)
