Fabia mk1 looking its age?

Featured Replies

Am i the only one that thinks that the front end lights remind me a little of one of these...*shudders*

Only if you leave the original orange bulbs in and don't replace them with the Philips silver vision bulbs!!!!....gets rid of the fried egg look...and the remote assumtion that it's a Nova!!!! :p

I still quite like the look of the Mk1 Fabia, apart from the pre-facelift bogspec ones. True, in standard form even the vRS looks overly tall and a bit old-fashioned (IMO the black one suffers worst), what with the fake chrome and so on, but with a few relatively straightforward mods (a slight tap of the lowering stick and darkening or coding the chrome trim) it can be made into a bit of a looker, that stands out from the rest of the modern supermini crop.

I really don't like the direction modern small-car styling is going though, they are all just overinflated blobby round creations that are either dreary or are so over-styled that all the details threaten to make your eyes explode :wall:

Sorry, where was I ...?

Having had a MK1 vRS I can safely say the MK2 vRS is better looking... in standard guise.

Now, get a MK1 vRS lowered on Octavia vRS Spiders and colour code the grill/lights and it looks stunning, just how it should have left the factory. A MK2 vRS needs none of this, maybe lowering on factory wheels but that's it.

I will say that the Estate vRS looks better than the Hatch but i'm biased :D

when i first bought my Vrs i wasn't a massive fan of the styling of it, it was bought for other reasons (cheap to run, insure and not sluggish) but it has definitely grew on me. it was when i nearly swapped my bro for his leon cupra r and i thought, no, i really like my furby, not to mention the cost to transfer my insurace was ridiculous. lol

The new Fiesta doesn't look bad either, I wouldn't buy it though. But it is the best looking fiesta that there has ever been (yes unfortunately I'm old enough to have been around since before the mk1's).

Yeah that's totally fair, I do like the new Fiesta and I would even consider buying one if the did an ST or RS version, but then what would put me off is every Tom, **** and Harry having one. (I'm old enough to remember the mkI too).

I'm very suprised to read so many negative comments about the mkI Fabia, I remember when the first came out I loved the styling of the vRS. I still think it looks great.

I see the same Skoda Fabia every day on my way to work and it looks pretty new to be honest... its a 2004 (i think) VRS in black... looks very smart and defo doesnt look old!

I reckon the Mk1 is looking pretty good for its age, and there are still plenty of them about here. I agree it isn't the best looking hatchback around, but that doesn't mean it's dated.

I didn't like the look of the Mk2 initially, but I had a good sniff around at the dealers last weekend and it's definitely grown on me. I don't think it has the character of the Mk1 though. I've parked my car next to lots of Mk2s (my dad has one) and I still prefer mine.
