Whining noise

Featured Replies

Noticed that my car makes a whining noise when going round right hand corners/bends. Only noticed it today as the window was down. for some reason I'm thinking it could be the wheel bearing (something a friend said to me a while ago), but I've no idea how to check it.

Anyone else got any suggestions?

Does anyone have any ideas on this problem, as its reared its ugly head again today. It seems to be worse when there are more people in the car.

Today its made the noise quite a bit, but again only on right hand bend's and its got louder.

I still can't pin point the exact area for the noise, but the passengers seem to think it was in the rear.

Could it be a wheel bearing, or would that make the noise constantly? Anything else it could be?

It ll be a left hand wheel bearing, front or rear hard to say without listening to it!

Thanks for that, I'll get them checked

Jack the car up, and see if there is any movement in the wheel up/down and left/right. A bad bearing can sometimes be heard when you rotate it.

Most probably a bearing. Might not have any play when checked and still be bad. As I understand it, it's mostly the rear bearings that fail.
