Columbus V7 Maps Download

Featured Replies

I have just purchased a used Skoda Superb (Registered June 2009) and am looking to update the maps on the columbus head unit.

I am not sure if its possible to check the version of maps i am currently using but they seem very old as it doesn't show some of the roads where i live. Does anyone know if i can download the latest version of maps anywhere? I believe its V7?

I have also been looking at the firmware updates on this forum but am now not sure about updating as i have read a few comments about losing the phone/navigation menus on the maxidot display, can anyone confirm if this is likely or are the firmware updates fairly reliable? The only reason i would like the new firmware would be to enable the use of SD cards greater than 2GB, i am not too worried about the 7 digit postcode etc.

Thanks,

Mark

You cannot legally download them, the only place to get them is the dealer. If you ask nicely they may well update the maps for free.

Okay thanks for the reply. I will speak to some other dealers near us, our local dealer didn't think they were able to do it! Is there any other official places to buy an upgrade DVD?

Thanks

Only from Seat, VW or Skoda dealers as the disk is specific to the RNS-510 (aka columbus, mfd3)

Really you should have been supplied with a copy of the maps installed on the unit.

Mainly because your ownership of those maps gets you a discounted price on the next version.

Example - rough pricing only:

I want to buy V7 maps - cost is around £200 just for the maps, mainly because they added 7-digit postcode searching which costs a lot to license.

If however I took my V6 maps to the dealership, they should be able to sell me the V7 maps for around £70, as I'm upgrading.

So my new Octy came with V7 maps a few months ago, I have the physical V7 disk.

When it comes to upgrading to V8 (eventually) I should get a discounted price.

Hi the man is right, Ive phoned the Skoda helpdesk and they have stated the same, if you want the maps updated contact your local dealer, if you only want the mapa updated it will be free, if you want a copy of the disk to take away there will be a charge, (propablly not cheap) and if you want the firmware upgraded there will be a charge as the dealer will have to do it.
