Super Pro or Oem Bushes ?

Featured Replies

Hiya Folks,

MOT passed recently with advisory of front bushes needing replaced.

Now,,,, I have just been quoted £150 by skoda to get them done,, is it worth a few extra quid for me to get the super pro kit ?

Im not a modding type at all and have been very happy with the standard setup, will the poly bushes really make that much difference ??

How much extra are we talking? They don't make a huge difference but they should last longer, standard bushes are known for failing!

Which front bushes?? Is it the front bush on the front wishbone or the rear bush on the wishbone (known as the console bush)???

If it is the console bush then defo replace with either the Powerflex or the SuperPro as these alter the way the car handles.....way better than ever!!!!! front wheels stay in contact around corners.

See my post for more info B)

Replace with some cupra R bushes. Thats what a lot of people, including myself have done. About £8 each IIRC.

Powerflex are rubbish. I would never use them again. My front wishbone ones started knocking.

I'd go for superpro. Thats what I've go on mine now (see link below).

Sy , thats 150 fitted including vat

New style OEM bushes are also fine, less voids more rubber.

I know, fitting isn't that hard, I did all mine and wouldn't say it was challenging

i did ask the garage about the life of the bushes , they did say there was a new bush in stock

Yeh they are from the Octy 2 and very robust compared to the chocolate ones they once fitted. Had mine done a year ago, and car feels more planted in corners. No increase in ride noise either, which you do sometimes get with Cupra bushes.

+1 have them on mine too

At the end of the day Octy 2 & Curpa Bushes are both still rubber and will deteriorate. I would say spend a bit more cash and do it properly with Superpro.

I've had the OEM original, and the Octi X type, now have the Powerflex version......which is much better than the Octi 2 OEM bush!!!!! The Powerflex, SuperPro and Whiteline bushes work in different way to all the OEM types and are much better for wheel control!!!! B)

Just so you know mate the Powerflex ones were a nightmare but they have re-designed them and no longer have any issues :D

We also offer the Superpro bushes - and we can usually beat most prices given by anyone else :)

Haha, you on commission

I've just had Cupra bushes fitted, bit more clutch vibration and seems to amplify rough surfaces a little harsher. It may be that the revised 4-pin Skoda bushes are the best trade-off after all? However i can say the Cupra bushes plus a proper Hunter wheel alignment have tightened the front end up really well, car feels planted and positive in the corners.

But do you notice more vibration compared to a brand new genuine bush? Or more vibration compared to your knackered old soft split and perished bushes?

But do you notice more vibration compared to a brand new genuine bush? Or more vibration compared to your knackered old soft split and perished bushes?

Yeah that's the thing isn't it - bushes deteriorate over time so you can never really judge before and after as you get accustomed to things. It seems to carry vibrations more than when I've had OEM skoda 2 pin bushes in the past, which makes sense as they are solid and not voided. But roadholding and steering seems great.... compared to my old soft split perished one!

I've had the OEM two web and the Octi X web...now have the Powerflex (because it can be fitted insitu without the need for tools) and there was only a very very small amount of NVH extra....drowned out by the 70shore lower rear engine mount tho' :giggle: .......But the Powerflex, SuperPro, Whiteline bushes all work in a differt way (more like a true pivot point) than the OEM 2,X and Cupra bushes....and therefore much better at reducing the wheel hop and skip of the inside wheel when cornering etc!!! And still having problems with my coolant system, still pressure in the system after the car has cooled overnight, changed the tank and cap , no effect. YES!!!!!

There is no thread in the wishbone at all!!! The only "thread" is in the alu console unit! This thread is for the front pivot bolt for the front wishbone. There is one console unit per side! A good garage would not have 4ucked up the thread and the thread should be able to be redrilled and replaced with a "helicoil".........bunch of cachanded 4uckwits!!!

After reading this i called them and they have said its the threads in the console arms , you are right mate , and apparently this happens sometimes on older cars ???? Its 2 console arms being replaced.
