VRS rumble

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

I have recently noticed that my car has a rumbling sound from about 30-60mph at first i thought it was a wheel bearing but i have jacked the car up and span the wheels and checked for movement but nothing. I did some research and here of people saying it could be the diff, is there anywhy to check this?

the only other thing i think it may be is the DMF as the car sounds like a diesel on start up and is a bit clatery when pulling away from a standstill. plus sometimes it it difficult to get into first and i can feel some feedback through the clutch pedal.

can anyone help?

cheers

Dom

Probably a wheel bearing.

They don't seem to go loose like they used to back in the day, so you probably won't feel any play in the bearing.

The bearings are double-row angular contact ball bearings. Made in the UK, by NSK (if you buy them from Skoda).

When one of my fronts went earlier in the year I couldn't feel any play. But after changing both front wheel bearings the noise went.

This is how it went for me: http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/192006-wheel-bearing-or-cv-joint-failing/page__p__2288761__fromsearch__1#entry2288761

Yeah +1 for that

I had a rear bearing go on a brand new RS, no play just the noise, try gently loading the car be swirving side to side, safely! lol

Them when the cars weight transfers to the bearing thats gone the noise should be thier and when it transfers to the other side you shouldnt get any

The reason i dont think it is the bearing is that they were both changed in January and i couldnt get any noise out of them.

Ahh

Sorry didnt read your post correctly!

No that wont be a wheel bearing and deffo not if youve had them both changed!

Can say ive ever come into contact with this sort of problem!

Could be a diff problem of even gear box!

Its not really a typical thing for a DMF IMHO thats not to say that it couldnt be

This will be a bit hard to get to the bottom of without actaully seeing the car

Have you taken it to a garage at all?
