Questions before seeing dealer

Featured Replies

I know that much of this has been asked and answered before, but to save on getting annoyed by the 'search' facility on Briskoda, I thought I could ask the following questions:

1. Regarding the compensation at 18 and 24 weeks non-delivery. Is this something done through the dealer, or via SUK? Is there an official statement regarding the compensation offer that can be found online?

2. The MDI cable. I recall a while ago someone detailed the title / codename of the SUK memo that could be referred to when talking to dealers who were pleading ignorance of their obligation to provide this cable. Does anyone recall what it is?

3. The 3 year servicing deal on PCP. I wasn't offered this upon ordering my car (order placed 11th April). Does anyone have any thoughts on if I am still eligible for this offer, having already agreed to purchase the car on PCP (although no paperwork has been signed regarding the finance, only the initial credit check has been carried out)?

Anyone?

The best I can do is an extract from an e-mail I recieved from Mr Will Fisher (UK Customer Relations Manager):

"In recognition of the delays our customers are experiencing with their orders, Skoda UK has implemented a system of goodwill gestures:

Should your vehicle's lead time reach and exceed 18 weeks, you will be eligible for a goodwill gesture of 150.00 GBP, which can be used to purchase servicing or accessories. In the event the vehicle has not been delivered after 25 weeks, you will qualify for an additional gesture of 150.00 GBP - enough to cover the cost of a two-year service plan."

Probably not much help mate, sorry!

what exactly is the lead time? is this from the moment the dealer places the order?

From the moment you sign the order in theory although, as reported on this thread, some dealers can take up to a week to enter the order onto "the system".

Thank you for that information DWW. That is certainly enough information I need to satisfy the first question.

I remember a while ago now, in one of the many threads on the subject of the MDI cable, that someone posted a reference code to the dealer communication from SUK reiterating the responsibility of dealers in supplying a cable with the car. If only I could remember which thread it was in...

My dealer informed me that my order was placed around lunchtime the day after placing my order, as soon as the finance approval had come through.

Thank you again for your responses so far.

This one: Number SK0415/10.

Hi Didescharlie,

I ordered my vRS on the 28th March and at the time the 3 years free servicing deal wasn't available. Much like yourself I had arranged to purchase the car on a PCP and had a quote and the original credit check carried out.

However, after hearing on here about the free servicing offer I contacted my dealer and asked if he could run my details through the finance system again. He did and it added the free servicing. The monthly repayment figure changed slightly, it increased by around 80p which I can live with for the benefit of the free servicing

On collecting the car (13th June) the dealer's finance manager said that the free servicing offer should only be for customers who ordered cars on the pay 5% VAT deal and that I was getting a good deal as I was on the 20% VAT free offer. Not convinced as I think finance is a seperate issue, afterall you don't have to finance your car through Skoda. You've paid a deposit to order the car, finance is something that can be arranged later. You've not signed any finance agreement yet (this is done on collection), so it's not a done deal yet.

I'm sure it's the same if you decide to change the amount of your deposit, I think they would have to run the figures through the system again?
