Windshield wiper "bangs"

Featured Replies

Hi everyone :) just recieved my new Superb my12 on wednesday and all in all I'm very happy :D

Although, yesterday it rained and I had to use my windshield wipers. When the wipers are stopping an about to return to position the wipers bang on the windshield. Its like the windshield is "dry". Using windshield fluid helps, though after a minute it returns. Do I have to change wipers or is it something that will go avway? Maybe something to put on the windshield that makes it smoother?

I had something similar with mine when I got it. The wipers were jumping unless I used loads of screenwash. Despite cleaning it with AG fast glass and AG glass polish nothing improved it. Eventually I cleaned it with a white vinegar/distilled water mix and used a scrim cloth to disrupt the cr@p on the glass. No problems at all now, wipers are really smooth.

Okey I'll try that! Had to google scrim cloth though, dont know what that is.. Still dont know where to get it. But most likely a reguler cloth will do dont you think?

A glass microfibre cloth will be fine, but anything rough enough to disrupt the rubbish on the screen will do. I think it's just the stuff that accumulates on the glass during transportation. ( A scrim cloth is a rough linen cloth the window cleaners used to use! )

Ok :) I normally use a glass cleaner solvent and newspapers as cloth, excellent results. Except the mentioned problem on the car.
