Wheel alignment

Featured Replies

So after the Eibachs were fitted i left it a while before the alignment.

Popped a call to John at Pro-Grip in Larbert Scotland http://www.pro-grip.org.uk/

Arrived and on the ramps

Car feels so better but really needs the RARB which DPM has timed it right to offer free delivery lol :giggle:

The MX-5 guys rate Pro-Grip - looks like a good set up. How much did it cost for a full four wheel alignment? Looking at your final readouts, is your front left camber still out of the correct range? How come that couldn't be corrected?

This is all so d*mn confusing.

I read elsewhere on another topic that the revised rear geometry settings had been changed to -1 degree 20 (plus or minus 30). How does that match up with the settings on the read out you have?

I had mine done by Merityre in Surrey and the printout shows 1.20 with the plus / minus 30; mine are now aligned with that setting.

Any thoughts?

The old and new settings are given here (first item on the page), although the source of these figures is not given. To quote;

Rear Camber Values

Due to a number of complaints regarding rear tyre noise and wear on Octavia A5 vehicles, the rear camber values can be changed to the following settings -

Old values are: -1°45' ± 30'

New values are: -1°20' ± 30'

This information applies to Standard and Sport suspension.

If you look at Grizzle's printout they are as near as you're likely to get to -1°20' (-1°22' left and -1°21' right) so I think they should be fine.

Ah yes - I see that now.

Grizzle's settings are fine as you say, but given that the setting is now 1.20 plus or minus 30, the printout shows the old range (ie: 1.45 plus or minus 30).

Or am I still missing something :(

It was £60 for the alignment and personally i have no idea what all that means all i know is it drives great no pulling to the left, and the noise is practically zero, Whiteline RARB will tighten it up a little more handling wise coupled with a WALK and we are jamming

That's a really good price for a proper full four wheel alignment. I'll remember them in case I ever need it doing in the future

Thanks for that. I can't pretend to know what it all means but when I compare some of the figures you've got with some of what I seem to have, needless to say there are differences. That may be because mine's a newer estate but I worry that it's because my Skoda dealer perhaps hasn't got the set-up on my car quite right. Oh well, I guess time will tell!

Sarge.
