tyre noise nokian h

Featured Replies

Hello, this week i switched bmw 320d (e91) for almost new superb2 my2009, its in manufacturer guarantee next 2.5years and has just 36000km, but

I cant live with noise from brand new NOKIAN H 205 55 R16 94H XL tires, on good road its K but if road quality just little bit decreases its like in airplane inside compared to BMW

I have searched about noisekiller and stuff here but, its new car in guarantee i dont want to let some other company than skoda to do service until its out of guarantee, what should I do?

1.) change tires (but you know 400EUR out of window if problem is elsewhere)

2.) contact dealer?

3.) get used to?

4.) ...?

Thanks for any help..

I would suggest the tyres are the most likely cause of the noise. The size you quote are fitted to the Superb S in the UK and, having ridden in one as a passenger here, it was quiet with no undue intrusion due to road noise. Before spending any money however, why not visit a Skoda dealer or two and drive or ride in the same model as you have, noting what tyres are fitted, over the roads you are talking about. Note the difference in noise (if any) If it's the same model and the same roads and tyre noise is less intrusive on a car fitted with tyres other than Nokian, then you have your answer.

Are they all season or winter tyres?

The ADAC test gave the Nokian H quite good scores, in respect of road noise they weren't the best but nothing out of the ordinary.

Here is another one from consumers

I wonder if a full alignment check will reveal anything?

If the tyres are new, give them a chance to bed in. The front tyres on mine were really noisy for 500 miles especially at speed, once the tyres had bedded in they are pretty quiet and the car at speed is much quieter than the Octavia I had before with regard to road noise. The sound insulation on the superb is actually very good to start with.

tires have between 500-600 miles

i ll let check alignment, although if road is really good theres no noise at all

Hi, there!

Superb is quite keen on the road surface: although virtually silent on the smooth surfaces, it's not that great on the others. But, to be honest, quite a lot of brand new cars from different manufacturers are really noisy nowadays (Mondeo, Passat, etc.). Actually I've heard from many owners that road noise in Superb is more audible than in their previous cars, but this fact does not make them unhappy, because Superb is full of merits in general.

was at dealer they did check alignment - was ok,

they test drove it, they said its not ok, they measured tires and told me they arent worn well, but well they werent too convincing, i ll let it checked tomorow by local garage, if they confirm tires i ll buy new set at dealer and force them to fix noise if it wont be ok after replacement

they were also talking something about rotors, but thats kinda off... during braking therere no shakes in steering or stuff

also they gonna change some alternator chains or something and other thing gonna be checked (classic water in the fog lights, loose electric seats, broken joystick control on driver seat, anything else to have checked?)
