Hi

Does anyone have any knowledge of which steering racks fit the Fabia 1? My car is a 2001 1.9 SDI and I'm 'phoning scrapyards at the minute and Polo, Fox and Seat racks are being suggested, so it would be useful to know if there are alternatives. My own rack has sprung a leak and I'm planning to refurbish it, but I need another one in the meantime to keep me on the road.

I had my MOT last week and my rack had decided to wet itself :wonder:

Options

£400 from seat

£300 recon supplied by garage

£165 recon from ACS - 01827 259699

ACS

£150 - rack

£15 - delivery and pickup (sold on an exchange basis)

£50 - surcharge - give it back!

Next day delivery

Anyway saved a few pennies by doing that

Still a £650 MOT

Thomasa, thanks for the info. I found ACS on eBay and have asked them to quote me for shipping to and from Northern Ireland. In the meantime I found a second-hand rack on eBay and bought that for £75. I have the leaking one off the car now and I'm investigating reconditioning that myself. I have a few contacts in Prague and apparently you can get the seals from Skoda in the CR for about 30 Euro. It looks like an interesting project stripping the rack down and re-building it.

If I had a £650 MOT it would be off to the great racetrack in the sky, my car's only worth about that and I can get £150 in scrap for it.
