fabia deadlock question

Featured Replies

Hi,

The mother in law has a brand new fabia estate but everytime she switches off the engine she gets a warning on the display about deadlocks and to consult the handbook which for the life of me I cannot see anything mentioned. Tried changing in maxidot but there doesnt seem to be an option on the menu. Its an elegance I think. Any help appreciated.

My VRS says exactly the same. Be useful to find out what it means.

Our Fabia vRS doesnt do this but my Dad's Audi A3 does. I think some European regions have to display this warning by law.

The idea is to make you aware of the dangers of deadlocking occupants into the car as they will not be able to exit the vehicle (the interior door handles will not open the doors no matter what you do from inside the vehicle) and it could be dangerous, particularly if something life-threatening happens by which an occupant has to get out of the vehicle to avoid serious injury.

If you do not want to activate the deadlocks ensure you press the lock button on the remote twice, you will hear the deadlocks dis-engage. Also the lock confirmation light (the flashing red LED) on the door panel will no longer flash. The interior door handles will remain functional so anyone in the car could get out if locked inside. Be aware however that if you disengage the deadlocks this would allow a theif much easier access to the vehicle as they could smash a window and simply activate the interior door handle to get in the vehicle.

Hope this helps.
