ECU update for 1.6tdi cr

Featured Replies

My car had a SMF fitted a couple of months ago and had a bit of chew as it was not finished by the end of the day and after a conversation with the service manager he said not to worry and he would stay back and finish himself.

After collecting it from the dealers it was running like a sack of spuds. (engine was hunting badly and when the DPF started its cycle it was worse than a old London bus, i wondered if it had been setup correctly as perhaps was rushing)I put up with it for a couple of days as the cars is a taxi and had to have those wheels turning but phoned dealers after the weekend and had it back with them on the following Monday so approx 12 days after the original work.

I sat and waited for the car to be looked at and it only took an hour in total (but not sure when they pulled car into workshop), i was told that the car had a ECU update and its sorted the problem out. I was happy with the explanation and left quite happy. The car ran so much better, you could still tell that the SMF had been fitted as it was a little noisier and you can sometimes feel the engine hunting but only sometimes.

After a week or so i noticed when i switched the engine off there was 4 clicks from under the bonnet and after testing, this happened everytime the engine was switched off. I again returned the car to the dealers and they told me it was the something flap (can't remember) opening and closing doing a self test and it does it twice. The dealer told me they would monitor other cars that have the ECU update to see if its normal and get back to me.

The dealers have not got back to me, has anyone else had this ECU update and do you have the same 4 clicks from under the bonnet?

Regards Kyle
