bloody surging again / dpf out or p/x

Featured Replies

Its really hard to explain what its like it seems to do it more at a steady speed rather than say town driving ......

but its as though somebody is very very lightly touching the brake on and of.... the revs dont move it does not slow down or speed up just as though its missing you can feel it through the hole car.

At what speeds? I would go as far as to say this is normal....it is a characteristic of the DSG. Mine does something similar to what you are saying i think but only inclines. Say you are driving at 40-50mph across different gradients but keeping a constant speed, you can feel as if the box is engaging and disengaging itself very quickly and only noticeable to the driver....It is probably some sort of inclinometer if that is even a word!

I would safely say that what you explain isn't a DPF as you can only feel this regening if you are idling as you get a high and rough idle.

I have a similar problem on my 2.0 170 CR Superb. If I drive at a constant speed/rpm(let's say 2000rpm) the boost is very high, you can very clearly hear a constant "fsssss".I did a VCDS log and at constant 2000rpm the requested boost is around 1200 mbar and the actual boost is at 1800 mbar. It's like the turbo is prepared for take-off  If I push the pedal, there is absolutely no turbo lag,the car launches in a fraction of a second.I guess it's because the turbo is already "charged"(not sure if it's a correct term).

If I take the car outside the city and drive it for about 20km~13miles at >2000rpm(DPF cleaning procedure),the car is back to normal for a week or so.The DPF indicator never appeared on my dashboard,no fault codes in engine module, nothing.

I wonder if it's also a faulty sensor.

There is talk of THe MOT next year including a visual check for the DPF. If you are considering removing the DPF & fitting another pipe check on this first, the other option is simply to knock the innerds out of the existing DPF so all appears to be OK
