Ask them to reflash the ECU and the DSG file. The file might have a slight corruption or something?

just phoned them up there is no updates for it at all......so its of back in see if they can find anything.

I think what he is saying is that you should get the dealer to reinsert the standard program as your car may have developed a fault in the control program which will be cured by re-installing the program.

thanks for that, would this show up as a fault code or not ?

It may or may not show a fault code up. However a fresh install will tell you if it was the program at fault or not? Its worth a try as programs can get corrupted and lead to all sorts of running issues.

just waiting for phone call to see if they have found anything....

but driving home from work last night in traffic I could make it surge by holding car between 25 and 30 m.p,h and it would do it all the time

  • Author

well picked it up a few hours ago......and they have re-flashed the ecu back to factory settings and explained to me this ???????

The surging is due to the DPF even though its only got 2,500 miles on it,and the surging is the software putting xetra fuel in to clean it out and is normal ?

so i havnt got to clogg it or drop it into sports just let it surge for anything from 30 mins to 2 hours has any body else had this problem with a vrs cr they also said this is what skoda uk has told them

Why not take out one of the mechanics and actually drive the car and demo the problem to them??

this DPF thing is really pi***ng me off really like the car but all the dpf seems to do is cause trouble :swear:

been in touch with shark to remap and to take the dpf out this will make it run better and eliminate the dpf problem but just worried about when its MOT time for the emissions test.

other than that its loose loads of money and get a superb t.s.i estate dsg

I came across this site today - a garage in Crewe offering a "specialist" DPF removal service. They state on the site that DPF removal can be done without impacting the MOT - ?? I've mailed them to ask them to elaborate.

They're making alterations to the MOT process to bring them into line with Europe over the next year or so. I did hear a rumour that the removal of any part of the emissions system would constitute a fail - this was mainly aimed at cat-less diesels, but I guess the DPF could also be impacted ...

I'm suprised there have been no follow up comments to this, as the garages statement sounds like bull to me.

I have pulled up at home in my previous Yeti a couple of times, to the smell of diesel and hot air coming from under the car, this I put down to DPF cycling itself and using the extra fuel to burn off all the evil particles, but not once did I get any surging. You should be able to drive the car as normal throughout this process surely. I'd give Skoda's customer service another go and see what they make of these comments.

Finally found a contact form on skodas website so i have sent them an e-mail trying to explain it all.

Are there any other Skoda dealers local to you that you could take it to for a second opinion?

  • Author

well the e-mail to skoda customer services worked, they phoned me up today for a long chat about the surging or missing its doing.....

the tech guy is going to phone me next week to have a chat as well

my last words though to skoda on the phone was.....if its the software putting extra fuel in to burn off the soot....then how is it i can make it do it in 4th going 30 ish..?????

Was much of your reading not about the DPF issues on PD engined VRS's?? :wonder:

Haven't come across anyone with issues with DPF on CR engines like yours (or mine) yet...

I'd be very very surprised if that's the problem TBH. I'd reconsider, unless you really want to change...

There is no emissions test on diesel, just a smoke test. If you are that worried have the dpf gutted and remapped. mot station wouldn't even know anything had been removed then.

On a side note there are a few people on here who do 1-2 mile trips in their cr and have had no issues.

Is your DPF sensor made in USA or Malaysia?

just had a look its a Malaysia one, whats the difference between them?

(thanks to chrispy for the pic)

the USA one is dodgy! I don't know anyone on here with a CR that has had trouble (apart from this dodgy sensor) with the DPF itself....so perhaps it is something else on yours?

Its really hard to explain what its like it seems to do it more at a steady speed rather than say town driving ......

but its as though somebody is very very lightly touching the brake on and of.... the revs dont move it does not slow down or speed up just as though its missing you can feel it through the hole car.
