Pressure washers

Featured Replies

Does anyone know if you can buy a pressure washer that doesnt need a direct connection to the mains water supply? Only weve got silly taps that a hose wont clamp to! Cheers.

you can get a hoselock adapter for normal taps

Paul's suggestion is a good one, what I would say from experience is make sure you get the best Hozelock attachement you can for the application as if you have a powerful pressure washer it will blow the Hozelock attachment straight off the tap..........

Karcher also do a kit which fits some of their mid range models which allows it to take water from a bucket/lake etc...eg a non pressurised source!!!!! look on their website..B)

I had a similar issue.

I have Nilfisk washer and no matter which attachment we bought we could not get it to secure to our taps.

I purchased 5 different attachments from various manufacturers.

Some appeared to clamp, but after only a few seconds of water pressure it would be pushed off the tap - soaking anyone in the area.

All to do with the fact the back of the taps was curved.

In the end I returned everything and bought a new tap set for the kitchen - this time no curved back.

Local plumber came and replaced our taps for £25.

Now the standard adaptors clamp on nicely and I can use the pressure washer.

Could you not just get an outside tap kit, fairly cheap and a DIY job.

Yep this seems like the simplest most efficient option.

Please remember to insulate it very well as this will freeze up in winter........I've got a tap in my garage and both this winter and last it froze solid...and it was heavily insulated.........mind you the temp didn't get above -5c during the day for at least 14days at one point!!!! :giggle:

Most modern washing machines are single tap fill - so they connect to the cold tap and heat the water - a lot of older houses have twin tap connectors (for when the washing machines were double fill).

Could you not buy a connector kit to hook onto this ? It's not that high pressure - if you have a combi boiler, just turn the boiler off and hey presto cold water :)

I'd just like to say I am not a plumber - nor have I any experience with gas / water - so if you blow your house up and then drown it, I'm not responsible. emoticon-0122-itwasntme.gif

If you do use one of these - and have a double tap (the sort where hot and cold come out of the same point) - make sure you only open the cold water and the hot remains closed. I speak from experience as I once left the hot water open and the water pressure from the cold went back up the hot water into the loft and flooded the tank ahh well.. You live and learn..
