been a while since i posted on Briskoda...

Just pondering what you lot would do about taking an extended weekend trip to France.

We have two choices of vehicle. A 3.0i Z4 Convertible or a MK1 Fabia VRS. Taking Fabia probably means the trip will be marginally cheaper.............maybe?????

I am leaning towards the Z4 due to the roof down and sportier drive etc...

What would you do??

If you are driving to the South of France as in your header, from Calais to Nice is about 750 each way, so that is alot of petrol, but hey roof down around Monaco

There's no question in my mind that the Furby will be cheaper, but if you can afford it I'd be Z4 all the way. It's not only the top down in the fantastic weather, but comfort. I don't know how the Z4 rides but (and I know a few people will disagree with me here) the Fabia isn't a great long distance car. Sure there's a useful amount of torque for motorway driving but it is a little crashy on less than perfect surfaces. Not so much a crticism of the car as an observation that I think applies to all cars with shorter wheelbases.

If money isn't an issue - Z4. IME European roads > our roads in terms of comfort.

we drove to the south of France in my Ibiza a couple of years ago. 4 up and with a full boot it was perfectly comfortable, even with the allegedly bone shaking standard Cupra suspension, given the choice I'd take the Z4

Been looking at the Z4 for a few weeks now. By far the best looking convertible. Z4 really, no contest.

Out of interest, is it white and is it a new model Z4? :p

I guess only you can answer this one. If you plan to do it on the cheap and take a lot of luggage with you then the Z4 is not for you. If you want to travel light, not too worried about 30 ish mpg and want some topless action then the Z4 IS your car! lol

We almost bought a convertible of some sorts before the Cordoba but the thought of trips to Germany with 4 people and all that luggage just didn't appeal!
