VRS - Low Rev Issue

Featured Replies

Hi All,

New Mk1 VRS owner and generally loving the experience.

A few things that are annoying me with my VRS are as follows and I wonder if they are common issues or has anyone else come across these:

1. Sometimes at low revs the car is lumpy on tickover and you can feel the whole car vibrating with it. Most of the times though it is fine.

2. When the car is moving (in any gear and at any speed)and when I get back on the throttle after changing gear, at very little throttle input the car seems to feels as though it is juddering or missing until I apply a little more throttle, then it drives normally. When you put your foot down it pulls like a VRS should.

I wonder if the two are related issues?

Any ideas?

Cheers

whats the year and engine code of the car?

the lumpy idle is normal as all blt engines do it, it was a change made to the car by skoda to meet the new euro 5 emissions, and you may be referring to the er studder when changing gear, happens at 1900rpm when lifting off and applying throttle again, again its normal if thats what your experiencing and can be solved by a new gasket, saying that i NEVER EVER notice it on mine :)

Cheers for the quick response.

the car is a 2006 model. Will have to check what the engine code is and get back to you.

yeah, the studder is as you say after reapplying throttle after lifting off (either for gear change or just to slow a little). What gasket should I be looking at changing? How does this help/what does it correct?

No prob :)

You can check whether the engine code is BLT by looking at the sticker inside the Service Schedule, or the one on the boot floor under the carpet. It is also listed in the V5C.
