Wiper Blades

Featured Replies

Had new wiper blades fitted at Awesome on saturday but the passanger one is hitting the car on the out side of the window. How much space should there be between window frame and the blade? Im just thinking the wrong size might of been fitted!!

Sounds like it, Size should be 24" Drivers Side 19" Passenger side.

There should be about an inch gap between the end of the passenger wiper blade and the pillar. I've just fitted new ones to my car. 2 minute job and the drivers side is a 24 inch blade, the passenger side a 19 inch blade.

Not this close then??

No not that close. Mine ends just by the black band around the outside of the windscreen. Can you get outside with a tape measure?

Ian

Error. Passenger blade is the wrong size.

How come you got them fitted anyway? One job while it was in for other stuff?

Yeah was in for a service so they fitted them for me.

I checked yesterday and I'm sure they measure 19", will double check!

Well they should definitely be a 19" passenger side (480mm).

Get the Valeo part no. off them when you check as well.

24" driver side and 19" passanger side.

Not sure waht the code is, but the numbers on the 2 blades differ, which i guess it should as they are different sizes

Very odd. Can you post a photo of the whole windscreen, with the wipers in their resting position.

Noticed also that yours is sitting a lot lower than mine(a good 2 inches above the join between the pillar and wing) whereas yours is more or less right next to it.

Shouldnt it lie above the VIN number?

Think mine (on both Octys I've had) have rested below the VIN display. Both blades look quite close together though, but I haven't got a useful photo to refer to from either of mine, and I'm not near the car.

Don't suppose you've got the old blades either have you, if Awesome did the fitting for you?

Yes I would have thought it should lie between the VIN and the top of the black band at the bottom of the windscreen. Mine does though it does move to different positions when I take the key out of the ignition. I believe that is a design feature to help protect the wiper blades.

Ian

part numbers dont match Valeo if it was a 24/19 then it would be VM371

Its possible they could move when the ignition isnt on! if anyone could check where theres lie with no power that would be good! :D

Sorry to say this but it's not the first time Awesome have ben on here for "errors" like this...........................

They are listed as BMW, even though they're the same size. It's VM310 for Octavia 2.

The other thing I think should be pointed out is the wipers are on upside down - the spoiler shape is dragging against the air. Someone wasn't paying much attention when they fitted them...
