Wiper Blades

Featured Replies

Have you let Awesome know about the issue yet? Give Al a shout and I'm sure it can be sorted out. Mistakes do happen I suppose, and if they don't know about it they can't fix it :)

As Wardy stated, When issues like this arrise, I'd much prefer that people contact me and let me sort out the issue, rather than jumping straight on the forum not giving us any chance.

To explain what has happened (As has already been explained to the customer):

The Valeo wiperblades have part numbers on them which do not refer to the kit number. The blades as an 'Individual' are suitable for other cars and would not be listed as such for the octavia in their individual part numbers.

The error made with the wipers it that due to them being LHD and RHD fitment, they can fit either way round. A quick 30 second switch around to soon cleared up the catching issue.

Also as mentioned, the wipers were booked out as a Bosch wiper blade kit. Unfortunately our member of sales staff doing the invoice does not see what blades get fitted to the car unless they physically look, and as the technician will only see on the job card 'Supply and fit front wiper blades', So he would not be on the lookout for Bosch/Valeo.

This unfortunately is an error caused by one of our suppliers. We order the Bosch Part number (930S if I recall correctly) and if they do not have them in stock, they quite litterally send the next nearest thing, in this case was the Valeo set.

A quick call to my supplier showed that they had no stock of the bosch equivilents (which I wanted to get in and swap for the customer) so I only had one remaining option. I have since credited and refunded £5.00 to the customer as a gesture of goodwill in exchange for him keeping the valeo blades fitted to the car.

Just to re-itterate, Neither me, nor any of the Awesome staff are here to 'take the ****'. We're decent people, fellow enthusiasts like yourselves and when something goes wrong, It's not as a result of any melicious intent, It's probably just a genuine mistake. So long as we are made aware of any issues, we are ALWAYS more than happy to do our very best to resolve any situations that may occur.

I accept that, But awesome need to a system in place to inform customers they arent getting what they ordered nor by looking at the invoice what they paid for and this would solve issues like this.

My original question was that the blades were hitting the car and how close were othere people blades to the edge of the window. It wasnt until pictures were taken was it noted that 1) they werent the brand i had ordered nor payed for 2) apparently the part number i had been supplied were for a BMW? & 3) they were fitted upside down

In future i surgest you pass on information to you Technicians that they should fit the brand ordered, and then if you dont have that brand inform the customer of this issue. It cant be that hard to put a note on the paper work what brand to use, as as stated above its not the first time this has happened and that would of solved this issue.

Yes i agree the issue is now resolved but at expense and time!

2) apparently the part number i had been supplied were for a BMW?

As already explained, the Part number on the wiperblade itself bares no relevance to the 'Kit number'. The Kit number supplied is correct for your car, as are the components used to make up the kit.

Valeo do not print the kit number on the wiperblades! As a kit it is for the Octavia. As an individual blade, they also fit a BMW.

I have had a meeting with my parts staff regarding the issue and they have been told that any 'Specific brand products' need to be the correct brand. If the supplier sends an alternative brand, then they are to be sent back and exchanged for what was ordered.

Likewise, I have informaed our sales staff writing out the job cards to note the brand required on the job card if something is requested specifically.

I though that was the case that was why i questioned it.

Regarding the changes to the parts ordered that is great and would solve these kind of issues in the future. Its good to know you react to customer issues in such a swift mannor. Top marks!
