CEL Error, OBD II Error Codes and Possible Causes

Featured Replies

Hello all,

The CEL light has popped up on my BLT (2006) vRS, I've taken it to my local garage for a scan and now I'm after a few pointers.

The errors were:

P1601- "Relay for supply voltage terminal 30, impossible signal"

P0671- "Cylinder 1 plug circuit fault"

The car is running and starting fine. Those errors together suggest to me that a supply relay is stuck or has failed. Does anyone have a wiring diagram or any pointers as to whether each cylinder has it's own relay?

Any other pointers or things I can do to check and should I be worried?

Any idea of the costs involved would also be appreciated.

Seems like cylinder number one glowplug has gone open circuit, you probably won't have any trouble starting it until we have a particularly cold morning.

Replace the plug, clear the faults and see if the relay starts behaving itself.

So I took the car for another scan before replacing the Glow Plug. After scanning it once the scanner came up with an error and the light went off for 24hrs and 3 ignitions but is now back on. Could this fault still be caused by a glow plug?

Probably the glow plug ctrl unit/relay,we've seen a few of these recently

Ooo that sounds expensive. Any pointers on the way forward?

I've got some questions on the physical location of hardware within the engine bay/car specifically:

-The Glow Plug control Relay

-Its relevant earthing points
