Has anyone done some modification to boot, that when pressed from remote control, it pops right up? It's kind of annoying when you come from store, have 6 bags on your hands and you still have to raise the boot after pressing the button on remote. More annoying with rain .

You need a stronger strut, Passat probably has had one, Audi A4/A6 definitely had one too.

I know 3B5827550A is stronger, 52kg, but I am not sure if it is enough to pop the boot open.

I'm pretty sure there was a post ages ago about this (on the old site, so I've lost my bookmarks :'( ) I seem to remember the hinges need changing not just a stronger strut. Think someone had posted a clip on youtube of the conversion...

The struts on the MKI are nowhere near strong enough to do this, due to the weight of the boot and the position of the hinges and struts.

I asked about this years ago, it can be done, but as has been said, loads of modifications, hinges need beefing up, stronger springs etc. Let us know how you get on.
