Superb 3.0 Diesel

Featured Replies

All,

I currently have a 170CR 4x4 which I own, but change of job, etc. means I have the ability to join a *very* attractive company car scheme. I've looked at A6 / 5 series / E Class, etc. but keep coming back to the Superb as nothing can touch it for value / kit.

But I'd love it to have the 3ltr VW / Audi Diesel....does anyone know whether this will be on the list at some point? The 3.6 is attractive, but emmissions and hence company car tax are massive on this.

PS - I do like the E Class - but have you seen the sat nav on it!!?? The Columbus unit in my Elegance is way, way better. So ruled out E Class just on that basis. Unbelievable for MB.

I don't think we'll ever see a 3.0 Diesel model personally.

i also think we'll never see such a big diesel engine on a Skoda. You could try the 2.0 TSI, compared to an A6 or a MB you'll save a lot of money :o .

It would kill the A4 diesel stone dead and VW will never allow that to happen. The A4 in this country at least has a huge premium price, nearly double the Superb. It is reputedly a rocket ship performance wise and Skoda's market is not a performance one except for the Octavia RS, just one model.

And the v6 superb...

I can't ever see vw allowing it... But I'd buy one if they did

The engine layout of the Superb is transverse, the 3.0TDI is longitudinal (Golf/Octavia/A3 based) and probably wouldn't physically fit. You won't see the 3.0TDI in the Superb II unfortunately.

As Shark said above, there isn't an large diesel engine that will fit in the Superb II.

Loved my chipped 2.5 V6 Tdi Superb I. A 3.0 V6 II would be mega. Drove a 3.6 petrol 4x4 Wagon a few days ago. Very impressed by the engine and the 4 wheel drive. In a 20 minute test drive it used 24L per 100kms though - about 12mpg.

Neighbour daughter, her engine broke, skoda superb I and replaced it with a 3.0

No other comms

I'm jealous

Manufacturers are phasing out above 2 litre engines, now  they can get 200 + horsepower from a 2 litre diesel and rising with every upgrade there's less need for a bigger one unless you're feeling insecure ;-)

They're getting more out of the bigger ones too. The top version of the 3.0 TDI has 313 bhp now in twin turbo form. Plus there's also the 6 cylinder noise being way nicer than anything a 4-pot will ever do.

you can see the way it's going though , the upcoming large  hike in road tax  is just the start of the push to get us to change to electric. They have it in for diesels
