Thinking of Buying Another VRS

Featured Replies

I owned a mark1 vrs about 5 years ago it was a great car but for the last 5 years I have been driving a BMW 525 touring . I have spotted a mark2 vrs at this garage http://www.niddriemotorcompany.co.uk/680/niddrie.htm The car is low mileage 33000 but as it is 5 years old I understand it will need a timing belt if it has not been done .What do you guys reckon on the price £7950 for a 2006 is this about right ? I am going to view the car this afternoon ,any advice much appreciated .

Looks like a good buy, and has the jumbo pack (centre armrest, dual zone climate, rear elec windows) which was an option on cars that age.

yes it should've had the cambelt/water pump done, if it hasn't you can argue the toss with them over whether or not they should do it before you buy the car, or budget ~£400 to get it done afterwards.

It's also in the ESP/ABS/G201/tevesMk60 failure age bracket (http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/174385-esp-abs-g201-failure-teves-mk60-list/), so can ask to see if it's had that repaired, and if not you could potentially have some further bargaining power there.

Edit: Cost for repair of above issue has fallen dramatically in the last 6 months, from ~£1500 to ~£200 so it's not a major issue any more.

Cheers for the reply Chris, I had a look at the car it is very tidy, going back on Saturday for a test drive . Will have to get the Beemer cleaned up it will be interesting to see what it is worth. There was no mention of the timing belt having been done ,so some haggling will have to be done on that .

Hi Brucey, just to let you know that this car has been at that garage for around 6 months or so (I remember seeing it listed at the turn of the year when I was starting to think about an Octy VRS). This doesn't mean anything (could just mean to that no one interested in a VRS has been at that garage) but thought I would add this in case of an underlying issue - to be honest the price was a bit steep when I first saw it advertised, but it did come with a Skoda warranty at the time.

Good colour too ;)

Check for rear parking sensors too, and if it has the 18" rather than 17" alloys, can't really tell for defo from the pics.

Cheers Kenny, I think they have had the car since last September ! It was on sale at £9000 which as you say is a bit steep, I am hoping they are desperate to get rid of it ,it might help me get a good price !

Looks like a nice car to me - 33k on an 06 and in a good colour - I'd be tempted if I was buying...

I agree with kenny i was looking at it in feb but wanted a tdi , did not take it for a run ,thats how its only done 33000 miles its been parked up before xmas. Make them a mad over they can only say no :giggle: :giggle:
