Thanks Adam,

Email sent

Please please be careful

If you ordered your sat nav before Week 22 (May sometime) and it said in the brochure 'Amunsden Sat nav with Maxi Dot'... it will NOT arrive with Maxi Dot because as of MY12 you have to order maxidot seperately it does NOT come with the sat nav.

I got stung with this and Skoda did not inform me.

That could be construed as 'misrepresentation'. Should read 'Amundsen Sat Nav without Maxi Dot'. 'Amundsen Sat Nav with Maxi Dot'. 'Maxi Dot'.

There are clearly three options here.

I would be seeking recompense, based on this.

I suspect this could be a translation problem; some Skoda documentation can be a bit bizarre at times.

Best of luck.

Tony

p.s. Just checked the 'configurator' on line. The option is Amundsen Sat Nav + Maxi Dot. No other option.

Right,

Firstly, many ,many thanks for the update Adam.

I emailed my dealer yesterday, but since my car is due for production soon decided to go straight to Skoda CS to try to get to the bottom of this.

I spoke to John and explained the situation. After some digging he confirmed with product marketing that the Amunsden Nav DOES NOT come with the Maxidot option but this is only the case with the Monte Carlo model. All other Fabias that can have the nav unit will get Maxidot, but I would still double check this is you have a car ordered.

He looked at the brochure and agreed it is misleading and this has now been flagged with marketing. What is more, there was a bulletin sent to dealers advising them that the MC will not get Maxidot (not that my dealer or Adams dealer bothered to read it and/or tell us the customer about it). Further more, Skoda in the same bulletin state that they strongly advise customers order the Maxidot with the Nav/Bluetooth options to ensure best use of the equipment.

However- it seems that if you spec Bluetooth (as I have) then the car does get Maxidot. John has also confirmed this morning that my car does have Maxidot as I have Bluetooth and Nav.

It is not clear if you would get Maxidot if you just ordered Bluetoooth

So in summary, the Monte would have never come with the Maxidot and the Nav combo, regardless of model year, and dealers were informed.

I have to say, as usual Skoda CS (and John in particular) are incredibly helpful, prompt and bearing in mind I called at half past eight on a Tuesday morning, John had everything clarified with a call back inside 10 minutes.

Its all a bit confusing and I would suggest if you are in any doubt contact Skoda CS as they are the chaps who know and are very very straight forward and mega helpful

Thanks - this is my understanding of the situation too.

Essentially if you add bluetooth you get maxidot - because bluetooth does not function without it - I checked the bluetooth userguide online and it only shows set-up via maxidot.

Even though my dealer told me today that sat nav DID have maxidot I informed him that he was wrong....

Incidentally - my Skoda dealer insists that Sat Nav comes with maxidot even after showing him your thread! Amazing isn't it!

Skoda refunded the cost of maxidot to me, wasnt exactly what I wanted... but I canney do much more about it really can I

Yes try to reject the car!, they have c@cked your order there brochure's are a mine field, they had the same problem with the leather interior it said that it was available in the brochure on line, yet it was an optional extra and part leather, this is down to the translation from czech to english, can they not retro fit the maxi-dot system?,I did not spec the maxi dot it came standard with the Amundsen but its not the + one, so what system have you got then the trip computer standard ?, so sorry m8 at least now you've had the car and you can enjoy it

Put it towards the cost of retrofitting it

They haven't mucked up Adams car, the MC doesn't get the maxidot option with nav, unlike the rest of the range.

Dealer bulletin released in feb to tell dealers.

Does come with the Bluetooth. Very slack but all brochures carry the caviat that spec can change without notice blah blah blah and since the maxidot wasn't specified on Adams order (cos it was thought to be standard) then there is no cause for function of the vehicle
