Throttle position sensor

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have been told that my 1.4 100bhp 16v Elegance needs a new throttle body as the throttle position sensor is faulty. I have been told its built into the throttle body so cant be replaced as a seperate part, the car has a hunting issuie every couple of weeks. The revs drop to around 650 then back up to just under 1000rpm and keeps doing this until I hold down the accelerator pedal to 2000rpm for a couple of seconds, then the car returns to normal idling a just under 1000rpm. I have now warning lights on and Vag Comm shows nothing and no error codes. Please HELP as a throttle body is alot of money to spend on a 51 plate car. Back in Jan my local garage cleaned out the throttle body and had it reset via Vag Comm, also I have had a new temp sensor and a new egr valve fitted. Thanks

Mines a 2001 1.4 16v Elegance estate AUB engine. I'm getting the same problem as you. However. My Fabia is an alternative fuel car and has had an LPG conversion. I get this happening on both Super Unleaded and LPG.

I've cleaned the throttle body and reset it, New air filter, new crank sensor (Autodata shows the speed sensor and crank sensor are one unit on the AUB engine at a cost of £125 for the sensor alone. Fitted it myself and was a right pain to do), EGR valve reset and confirmed working via VAGcom (however it hasnt been cleaned yet), new LPG injectors (Unleaded injectors are fine and dont need replacing). Rediness test via VAGcom shows everything ok apart from Intake pressure shows 0. This would indicate a faulty intake pressure sensor but I've been told that my car doesnt have one ???? (If so where is it ?)

Another thing that has been mentioned by a Skoda dealer is the throttle pedal sensor could be faulty meaning a new accelerator pedal at a cost of nearly £200.

Still dont know where to go from here. Any suggestions would be great :)
