Nothing....if you're a fat cat!

I'm not saying the fat cats shouldn't get any! I'm just saying, I'd rather not have underpaid/unhappy

undertrained mechanics working on my car in poor conditions...surely you can all see why? :D

Rob.

The best dealer around this area for expertise and parts is the one without shiny new premises. It also appears to be the major source of Skodas in the area too. I wonder what will happen to it - ie WJH Motors - under the Skoda corporate shake-up?

I refer the honourable gentleman to the answer I gave some moments ago :) :-

The privately owned dealers will battle on until it is not viable to invest what is required (or worth the hassle) to maintain the franchise.

What the large importers blatantly choose to ignore by policy (VAG-Skoda, I.M-Subaru) is that their 'customer value proposition' is met more closely by the independent dealers, not the big groups where service is either a) Expensive, or B) Plastic.

i'll stop turning the key now;)

Who cares if they are under paid? So long as they have the benefit of the training and I feel happy with their performance thats OK.

Plus they do get to drive my car :D

I don't care if they're underpaid, but a happy worker is a good

worker, and is less likely to make a mess of the car. Just because

someone's trained to do something doesn't mean they'll be

inclined to do it!

fair point... but many are happy to work for f.a. ... im looking for a skoda dealer in delhi at the mo;)

on the downside though, his fuel prices are bloody extortionate :(

It's such a shame for the people in the Highlands & Islands who have no congestion, cause hardly any pollution, need a car as there is no public transport and live miles from everywhere get charged what they do. I had a trip away to one of the Islands on Thursday where I got my photo for my Avatar and had a look at the diesel on the lsland 91.9p a litre! A damn shame and it's time the government reduced the tax on these areas to a level so prices are equal around the UK like the Danish goverment does

What about Milton Keynes - the most expensive fuel in the UK for the last 4 years ?

Fuel was cheaper in Fort William when I drove 600 miles up there in January for 'Petes' sake.

My dealer is of the 'old school' too. Their premises used to be a bakery , and they moved into it in 1991 , after outgrowing the small garage they had been in since they started out as 'Colt Cars' dealers (AKA Mitsubishi) in 1978 (the oldest Mitsubishi dealers in Northumberland still doing business) Anyway , when they moved into their new place , did they get a load of expensive contractors to build/alter and fit out their premises? .... did they hell , the 2 partners in the business and their mates done it all themselves , knocking the crap out of walls and digging the founds for lifts ect (i know coz they videoed it , and ive seen it!) at evenings /weekends. It is a true family business , and I feel welcome to go in for a chat about cars ect anytime (The 94 Lancer I've just bought makes it 6 cars purcahsed from them) Also I have several friends who work their , and ive been to Silverstone/Donnington/Croft ect with one of the Salesmen there many times. Now , could you see a relationship like this happening with a 'Corporate suit mega dealer'? No!!! And so , do you think I would buy 6 cars from one of these flashy places?....NO? (VAG take note , get rid of these delaers and you WILL lose custom...and a lot of hard earned respect too)
