VRS boost problem

Featured Replies

Hi guys I was driving out and about with my mate to let him here a diferent problem with rattle on front near side wheel (anti rool bar bush has gone so was tapping). Then there was a loud pop and all of a sudden no boost at all and thick black smoke coming out the back of the exhaust. I went home and did the usual checking intercooler to turbo pipes which seemed ok. Took off a flex joint which has a slight tear replaced and still same issue. Plugged it in a the below fault codes came up.

P0101 Mass airflow sensor implausable signal

P1556 Charge pressure control negative deviation.

Iv googled the codes and only thing I can see is stuff relating to a N75 valve which I dont have a clue about. Also does anyone know what the other sensor is that is underneath the drivers side bumper. Its directly on the other side of the wheel arch. Is it another air mass sensor?

Any help would be great.

You mustn't have something fitted back on properly or it's broken a bit of a pipe.

That fault is simply a boost leak.

Follow the pipes all the way from the EGR valve to the i/c and back, must be a leaking pipe.

I havent fitted anything. This happened out the blue. All hoses are on correctly and sealed.

Im going to check my MAF and MAP sensors now and take them out one by one to see if one of them is faulty.

The sensors are reading perfectly well. They're the sensors that are telling you that you have a boost leak.

The map sensor is telling you that the boost pressure went below the expected value and out of range. The MAF sensor reports an implausible signal because as the pipe opens on the pressurised side of the turbo the air rushes through and puts it's readings out of range as well.

Your faults are telling us there's a boost leak.

The only other option that there could be would be a split vac hose but if you have loads of black smoke and no power it's usually pretty straightforward and a pipe is burst, split or off. Also check your intercooler. There may be a hole worn in it.

it really sounds like the small 90 degree pipe has popped out under the engine drivers side that goes into the intercooler

Could be any one of the intercooler pipes. Usually when they pop they spray a bit of oil vapour round the place as well.

its big jases old fabia iirc its got seat sport front mount on it. so might have to remove the front bumper to check all pipes and make sure all are connected up.

You may have to take each pipe off and check for splits, it happened to me once and i couldnt find it with all pipes on the car.

Got this sorted guys. Bumper off and Slam panel off to reveal it had popped off right next to the intercooler. FEEOOOFFF. Running perfect now and after mending a few flex joints with tears the fuel economy and performance is better than its ever been in my posession.

Cheers guys!
