vRS brakes replacement

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I need new discs/pads all round and haveen quoted well over £400 by dealer. Just wondered where I can get them from OEM or aftermarket at reasonale cost. Also was going to get mate to fit them in Manchester (I live in Hull)so thought maybe buy them in Manchester so at least if they are wrong we can take them straight back to get right ones. I have the pdi 170 estate 56 plate 07 registered.

Cheers

Just my tuppenceworth - tempting though it is to save some money at this point, stay clear of cheap OEM disks and pads from motor factors or eBay.

Good aftermarket or genuiine parts are the best bet. After all, brakes are kinda important :-)

Have a chat to a reputable local garage. You have get a nice suprise with regard to how much less they cahrge than the main dealer.

Eurocarparts is where i get my brakes from - they sell OEM equipment like Brembo etc. They will tell you which make is the OEM on your car and recommend the best make etc.

I got my Pagid pads from Eurocarparts

Agree with everything you have all said!

Go with OEM or better! You save nothing in the long run if you buy unknown products, and risk your own and others safety!

Apbrakes had an offer on for brembo discs recently, info somewhere on the forum...

That looks like a brilliant price for brembos. As we're talking about brakes anyway, anyone have any idea on what the 'best' pads are? Are the brembo ones sufficient? For such a heavy car, the brakes don't exactly inspire confidence, I'm hoping it's just my ones are worn, not exactly sure on how to tell whether they're shot. Never changed brakes myself so any advice would be great

Hi Wardth

Genuinly the quality range goes....

Aftermarket/Patern (replacement parts)

OEM - Original quality parts, made by a OE Supplier - meet OE specs

Geniune - Parts which are fitted to the car from the factory

Lots of our parts cross over, for example Pagid brakes are Original fit on many VAG, GM and Porsche vehicles - Everything else in their range is 'OEM quality' - it meets the exact manufacture specs, so they are as good as Geniune :)

On eBay you'll find mainly aftermarket / pattern / copy parts - Cheap to mass produce and sometimes a false economy.

Glad to hear Nick (ps. BriSkoda members currently get 25% off www.eurocaparts.com but dont tell Nick that  )
