Climatronic VCDS coding for Columbus

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Does anyone know the VCDS coding required to display the climatronic on a Columbus (RNS510)?

Cheers

Andy

What model year is your vRS?

From your question I would imagine that your climatronic controller module will need to be updated, as I'm guessing your car is earlier than a MY09 and uses the older style climatronic system.

Most people don't bother to update the module, as you've got independent control and display for the climatronic system anyway.

Thanks for the reply Wardy

Its a MY11 vRS, build week 18 so I suspect (hope) it has the latest controller module

Its a retrofit Columbus so I suspect it just needs coding but can't seem to find on the web what actually needs doing

Ah OK - in that case you should be good to go, with no other changes required.

Only thing I can think of is to check within the coding for the Columbus on VCDS, so it knows about the Climatronic system, so it can communicate with it and supply relevant information on-screen.

Thanks mate - thats what I need to know cheers - what coding is required to let the columbus know about the climatronic - I've done lots of google seraches and can't seem to find an answer.

I had a quick look for you and there doesn't seem to be an option for it when the Columbus is connected, under the Radio module in VCDS. Which tends to suggest that it should just work, if the latest climatronic control module is present (which it will be on yours).

Clear as mud hey? ;)

Indeed mate - cheers for trying

Is CAN-BAP enabled on the Columbus?

If it is an older Columbus this option might not be available.

The columbus was made in Dec 2010

Could you explain how I enable CAN-BAP please (or check to see if it is enabled)

Not having a Columbus to hand, I am pretty sure it is a VCDS coding option to enable it. Given the MY of your car you will need to turn it on so that the Columbus can communicate with the Maxidot. On newer units it is enabled by default.

No need to enable BAP that is only required with MFSW and white maxidot

All you need for the climate display on the columbus is the newer style climate panel

Thats what I have but can't get it to display the climate controls on the columbus screen

Does anyone have a columbus in their mkII fabia with the new climatronic and are able to get the display to show the climate controls?

If you have a Fabia then I don't think it is possible. I'm sure the signal is sent via CAN and the gateway in the fabia is different to the one in the Octavia

The Fabia RS 2011 i had when waiting for my Superb to be build did show the climatronic in Columbus.

Cheers for the reply

I asked my local dealer to send a technical request to Skoda Uk and they have said it can't be done in the fabia!

Stream definitely has those selectable options Mike, can't comment on the Columbus.

I thought there was an option in the setupmenu of the Columbus to show or hide info such as the parking sensors or climate display? I've never wanted the display for either on my Columbus, and indeed couldn't have those anyway as it's a 2004 car, but I'm sure the optionis there somewhere on the Columbus itself.

EDIT or was that on the original Stream that used to be in the car?

MIke

The only option on my MY11 Columbus is to turn off ALL of the display, nothing can be turned off individually.
