Anyone used Pirelli Snow Sport winter tyres?

Featured Replies

Anyone?

Looking at some, wondered if they were any good.:wonder:

I have not had any experience of them on my car, however my dad has bought them for his Impreza. He had Snowsport 210, 205/55 16 and was impressed how they coped in winter. Obviously any winter tyre and having 4wd does help though.

They are now all worn out, but I think if he buys a new set of winter tyres he is going to try Goodyear UltraGrip 7s, as they came top in AutoExpress tests last year.

Dont know about there winter tyres but 4 had a set of p7's on front of mine during winter and was quiet impressed with how they handled snow,

Altho once they got worn down after winter they were crap for last couple of thousand miles

So would it be worth getting part worn winter tyres?

no! the whole point of winter tyres is grip. part worn = part grip

Not true,

As long as you have 4mm tread on the winter tyres, they will be much better than a summer tyre.

Even with less than that they are probably a bit better, but no point buying them with less.

Yes the tread depth and pattern is important, but the tread compound is also very important too.

All comes down to price and what you can afford.

Yes, 4* new winters will be better, but 4* part worn will be better than 2 * new and 2 * summer if you can only afford 2 new ones.
