Alarm not Sounding

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Alarm not sounding. I think it started after I tried to see if my windows would close if left open and car locked when it started raining. Whilst sitting in the car and I opened the windows as it started to rain. I locked the doors by pressing the fob, but about 30 seconds later the alarm sounded and lights flashed, so I pressed the Fob to turn it off. I didn’t realise that I had to switch off the internal motion detectors first.

Now it seems that only the lights flash when the alarm is set off.

Had a look through New Octavia tips and tricks hoping to find a solution to my problem, but no luck. Nor with the Instruction Book.

Doing what I did, could I have switched off the sound part of the Alarm?

Anyone know a solution to get back the sound.

Many thanks, RoystonB

may not be the case but mine (09) had no sounder but flashing lights and was fitted with a new unit, under warranty but they ar'nt cheap unless you get a better sugestion I'd take it back to the stealers to look at

Found this on my 2010 CR Vrs Derv, pull the fuse for the alarm, leave 30 seconds and then reinsert the fuse. try the alarm (sit in car set alarm stay still then move and alarm should sound).

I think it happens after the battery was reconnected (car just came back from dealers).

I haven't checked it since I found out the alarm wasn't sounding (will try tomorrow).

BTW-the ATA chirp still works but the alarm does not, if it still happens then it's back to the dealer under warranty.

Thanks 'Welsh_kai_boy' nearly had a heart attack. :giggle:

Pullup and thought I'd have quick look at the fuses. Pulled on the cover but needed a screwdriver. Thought I'd give it one more tug with my finger........................ The Alarm went off in my.......... Said a naughty word :o and managed to switch it off. I'll give it another look when i'm away from all the neighbours.

But at least it still operates. Thank again, RoystonB

well i tried mine again today (sat inside set the alarm and then moved and now only the lights flash and no siren, me thinks it's got to go back to the dealers again (more time without my car).

Just to let you know that I had my siren changed today for a new one (VCDS said it was faulty).
