the "Brimma Triangle"?

Featured Replies

My Google Maps navigation on my HTC Desire normally works flawlessly. However on a trip to the Lincoln area this morning it did a force close so many times I lost count.

Could this be due to the mystical influence of the balding gold-botherer himself? A new area of mystery where electrical appliances fail to work correctly?

Or is there a more earthly explanation?

Haha!

So did you ever find Sleaford?

Its all that gold causing electro-magnetic interference, and the light from Venus refracting off Brimma's bald bonce :giggle:

Yes, eventually! Took a lot longer than I expected!

But the wheels are great for the price!

But I would like to get to the bottom of this Force Close issue? Shall I just uninstall the last update?

I've never used it on mine, so I am, as usual, of no use whatsoever

No, you just blew over £100 on a sat nav when you've already got it on your phone!

The difference being that the TomTom will probably work without breaking down ;)

And I haven't got to pay for 6 months

Well, we can discount the Brimma Triangle theory... I tested it on the way to work this morning and its still failing.

Anyone with any experience of Google Navigation?

I'd buy a TomTom XXL Europe from Argos for £129.99 if I were you ;)

Loads, seems ok to me and I'm running stupid custom roms etc which like to kill the standard apps !!!

I've uninstalled v5.8 and gone back to an earlier version. Let's see if that helps.

I think I'm right in saying the one that comes with the phone (Google Maps) always needs a internet connection to get the maps, this therefore will use up your contracted monthly allowance of data. A dedicated Satnav or proper sat nav software (eg Co-Pilot) has all maps stored on the phone or device.

Yes that's right but I've got a 1Gb data allowance so that's not a problem for me

Just goes to prove then that size isn't important :)

Which is fine if your in an area of data coverage.

There are some route planner apps which download the maps and store them on your PC in advance, and thus can run without a data connection.
