Hi I have a 2006 Octavia 1.9 diesel tdi that has developed an unusual fault. After driving it for a while if I stop and start the engine again the engine revs up and keeps revving until I switch it off. This only seems to happen if the engine is warm I have used vagcom on engine but no fault is showing. Can anyone please shed some light on this annoying problem

burning some oil from somewhere would be my initial though.....?

Worth checking to see if the coolant temp sensor is sending the ECU the correct info. I had a similar thing happen on my old Bora which was caused by a faulty CTS.

Either or.

I'd tend towards the incipient runaway if it's heavy on oil, or emits blue or white smoke from the exhaust tailpipe and towards the CTS if the fuel consumption is poor.
