Looking for car for work

Featured Replies

Looking to get a car for work now as i now mostly drive rather than work so behind the wheel alot. I have the fabia with the DSG which I love. I like the look of the roomster as it's more a van shape which might suit me better than an estate. However I noticed on the parcel shelf there's a gap between it and the rear seats. Is there anyway this gap can be eliminated as I be carrying a cpl of drills tools etc and I don't want them visible between the gap. Thanks for any help on the matter

They used to sell a, err, piece of plastic "cloth" with velcro attached to the ends which you attached to the back of the seats and the shelf... I've just had a look and can't find it listed any more... Though you could probably make one yourself easily enough!

Its one of those "oh dear we hadn't thought of that as a problem" solutions!

I bought a black sheet to throw over everything in the boot which, in conjunction with sunset glass, keeps everything out of sight through the gap.

I have been contemplating the same issue.

I found the following in the accessories brochure. Part Number: DMK770005 £22.00.

It looks to be the same item as in the ebay link above.

I cant find anything better on the net so will probally get one too.

Another possibility would be to get really dark tinted foils on the rear door windows and rear windows. This would also add the benefit of the car staying cooler when the sun is shining. Like this:

Another solution is to put a spacer (just a large box) against the back of the seats. That way anything expensive in the boot is never forward enough to be seen through the gap. You could also improvise your own cover with some carpet or lino off cuts, just secure them using the headrest supports and lay them over the parcel shelf.

Thanks for your replies. Popped into the dealers yesterday. Boot size is excellent and is perfect for for what I need for work. However I did a few measurements and I need to carry a small set of ladders and a tube rack for conduit/trunking. So when the tail gate is open it limits where to position the items on the roof so it means everything is over hanging on the front. Bit gutted as I really like the rooster. So looks like it has to be a estate in order to accommodate the tube rack etc. I have found a good deal on leasing a octavia elegance for 230 a month or if I want to spend a bit more a superb greenline 2 elegance for 280 a month rather than go down the road of purchasing it
