My new Brake Kit

Featured Replies

Hi! This is my first post here...and it's about my brake conversion!

Calipers are 4 piston Brembo monoblock .Pistons size is 40mm all around. They are from an Alfa Romeo Giulieta!

Thanks! ;)

I've made custom brackets for the calipers!

What is the pedal travel like?

What is the pedal travel like?

It's exactly like it was before....but to be honest I don't really like it!!!

I want to feel the car braking only by touching the brake pedal!

It has about 15mm of useless travel but maybe that s because I've only done 140km since last week.

I'll let them roll for a few KMs and then I maybe bleed them again.

Hope that works! ;)

I was going to say let them bed in for a little bit first :) But even still the brake pedal travel will not change, just how they feel when biting.

I hae always found that using the Tarox brake kits they offer a great pedal feel as they are one of the last that tend to match piston sizes to the car!

Never the less they are looking good!! :D

Mike

Have you blead the brakes enough?

try doing it again and tapping the lines? I put the LCR Brembos on mine and the travel is less and the bite is soooooo much better.

That could be because the brakes were not blead correctly by the Mechs Ive used.

Good work tho, look sweet.

Maybe you are right...But pistons are not huge.Alfa Romeo uses the same brake pump more or less...

I'm sure I'll find a solution !!

Thanks!

I was just pushing the brake pedal....My friend was bleeding!

I'll have some KMs done ,follow the bedding process....and then bleed them again!

Thanks!

ah that might be why then mate,

you really need an eezibleed.

that way you dont run the risk of buggering the MC and you can do it yourself.

I did mine 3 -4 times before being happy, went thru 2l of fluid to get it right but I did have nel lines front and back.

good luck mate.

billy

Thanks,Billy!

I'll try this next week and let you know!

ne worries mate, the good thing with these is they are always preasurised. just usethe spare tyre at 16-20 psi, just enough to push it thru.

iirc you need a 8mm socket to do the 2 nipples on the MC, Ide start there. its really fiddly so I just opend them for a sec or 2 each and then used lots n lots of warm soapy water to rince the small bit of fluid away as its a pain to get the pipe on and use the spanner hence using the socket.

then do the sequence on the wheels.

Just to echo Billy's comments - my Brembo 4 pots bite instantly with almost no pedal travel. But my mechanic had a hard time getting them bled properly - he did it four times before it was right.

We made the prototype out of wood,then I bought 4 steel rods 165mm x 70mm x 40mm.I created a 3d Cad Draw and then

I went to a blacksmith (??? is that the correct word ??? )and they had them CNC machined.

I have photos and drawings in my other mobile phone.I ll post them tomorrow!

Thanks!

wouldnt the discs be better the other side tho so the groovs sweep back? so the crap in the groove goes to the outside of the disc and not the middle?

good work there mate, you have more cojones than me, I just get things I know will fit lol

That needed a lot of thought mate...I decide to put them this way thinking that the grooves exiting the pad are away from the centre-hub.So the crap goes away to the wheel.

I m not really sure, but reading through the net noone seemed to have 100% right!

Its not about cojone!! (haha!)...Everything fits...with one or another way!

Brakes bleeded again...and I think now is close enough to what I want!

OEM pedal feel!

Now I have to make some 100-0 (for you 60-0) tests and measurements just for the numbers!!!

Respectfully, I have to disagree with this. I use a pressurized bleeder regularly at work when I'm on my own (through lack of alternatives - other than simple bottle with a bearing as a one way valve), but by using two people who know what they're at (and more importantly can EFFECTIVELY communicate with each other ;) ), a spanner and an ordinary bottle ALWAYS produces quicker, more reliable results for me.

And the other three guys in the shop for that matter. And two of them have tried just about everything going over the last 30 years.
