Is this a VrS part only?

Featured Replies

Did these only come in vRS models or do 1.4 etc or 1.9 non VrS have the same instrument clusters?

Thanks

Part number 6Y0 920 973 S

Similar cluster was used on some petrol models, but rev counter is higher scale.

Revs are higher on petrol models? Sounds right, so it wasn't used in another doesel?

My problem is, I got this to replace mine but my part number end in 971 S not 973 s we could try it but if it doesn't take I may goose the unit for someone who could use it, we think it's just a unit they may have brought out which fixes earlier units, I don't see why it wouldn't work but I don't know for sure, is there a member who's a mastertech for skoda on here

Bump? Really could be doing with info on this, don't want to try program them if they ain't gonna work, any chance even though the part numbers differ the newer clocks could just be the same just faults fixed? A successor type thing?

What was up with your old one? Is one of the dials/ needles not working?

might be best asking in the tecchie section mate

ive never had indicator ticks and no buzzers work like fuel light and leaving lights on etc. and also the tilted seat light keep flickering every 2 seconds, i.e. the clocks are just foobered.

Petrol revs more. So that's all petrol models out and no other fabia diesel is going to have 150 on the clock.

Could have something to do with the dot matrix in the centre of cluster??

Or are blt and asz clocks different?

What engine you got?

I have asz bud, 2005

I have asz bud, 2005

I have the asz to and that clock is 100% identical.

I personally cannot see why it wouldn't work spot on.

There's a post on here somewhere about foreign Vrs's having the matrix/words in the centre.

This isn't even the matrix middle, it's just exactly the same I just want to know why skoda changed the part numbers there must be a defference somewhere but to the eye it's exactly the same, hence my confusion, all

Rev counter, mph every exact, strange, but I'm

Told it might not be compatible, hence my question of

Why not? I can get it coded by my brother but like I said I don't want to screw it up for resale purposes if it doesn't work, don't know what to do :/

As far as dervs are concerned, no other fabia derv has the same dash as that. Mainly this is obvious from the 90 mph onwards "half speed" thing. My old TDI clocks had the same scale all the way around. If the above pictured clocks turn out not to be for a fabia vRS, I will eat my hat :D (good job I don't own one)

Have you got all the bits to do the immobiliser coding etc? :)

Edit: THis is the kind of clocks I mean. Still got this SDI dash....

My brother works for VW so will have the coding done at his work, all immobilizing will be done too, I think we can only try it, don't see why it wouldn't work unless it's a confliction against the ECU that could be the issue?

Yeah, give it a shot. If you have family in VW, then they should know how to get the coding off the dash using their diagnostics system, and ensure all codes are put on the new dash. The ECU will obviously need coding for the new dash's immobiliser code - again I think dealer equipment does this automatically online but if you can get your dash's 4 digit immobiliser its worth keeping safe somewhere as is needed for coding extra keys etc, using vag-com.

VW won't be able to code the immobiliser unless they are multi franchised.

PM me the full part numbers for both dashes and I can check to see what the difference is and if its compatible.

Were you still interested in the vrS clocks I have for sale? They are gathering dust :)

I can't see a part number. They are 2003-06 vrS clocks though. I briefly fitted them to my vrS and then I found out that they needed to be programmed in. The cover has cracked and the trip button is broken. Both parts are really easy to replace using your existing clocks. These powered up OK when I had them fitted :)
