ABS error unsolved

Featured Replies

My freind has a 1.4 Fabia 2006 with the ABS light on.

The wheel bearing has been changed recently, as has the ABS sensor as VAGCOM said it was an ABS sensor fault.

However, the light still stays on and the ABS can be felt pumping erraticaly when pressing the brake.

VAGCOM gives an error, ABS sensor, drivers side front, implausible signal.

The sensor has been checked and is receiving a signal and the wiring loom is also undamaged.

Any ideas what it could be, anyone?

Possibly damaged ABS ring on the hub when wheel bearing was replaced. Also check tyres are the same profile on each wheel.

...The sensor has been checked and is receiving a signal...

If the ring is damaged, the sensor will still GIVE OUT a signal but it will not be correct.

Compare the gap between the ring and sensor to the passenger side. If the gap is too big you will get an erratic signal.

Check that none of the slots in the ring are filled with rust flakes and check that two slots haven't rusted into one

Had major problems with this on my car.....it's down to the reluctor ring on the back of the hub unit getting a dead spot....with the signal slightly skipping.......happened to me only 14months after getting new front bearings.....then had to replace the fronts yet again....this time using OEM from Skoda dealership!

P.S. the reluctor ring can be cleaned using meths and a cottonbud....if that doesn't work then defo new bearing unit (bearing unit is bearing, reluctor ring and hub flange...all built into one unit...and not availiable seperately) B)
