fabia tyre pressure

Featured Replies

I need to know the tyre pressures for fabia 1.4ohv tyre size 185 60 r14 . The info inside petrol cap is 220 front 200 rear but the Haynes manual says 2 bar front 2.2 bar rear . Assuming 220 (as inside petrol cap ) is 2.2 bar the information given is in reverse .(confused)

I run both my cars at 29PSI all round which is 1.999476 BAR.

DB.

Tyre-pressure is all about load and speed.

Speed is not that important but load is.

Load can variate in use.

Probably what the petrol cap gives is the pressure for normal use, and the Haines gives for maximum use.

Or it is accidentially turned around somewhere.

I kept myself busy with calculating tyre-pressure for radial car tyres since 2007.

Then I got hold of the formula and its extra's , that the European tyre-makers also use to determine the advice-pressures for cars. After about 2000 they chanched their pollicy, and gave to my opinion much to high advices, mostly maximum of tyre. That is why I learned myself Excell to make spreadsheets for it.

Translated a few to English to go worldwide with it.

In next map on my skydrive of hotmail adress with same username as here ( combine it yourselves if you want to mail me), spreadsheets and examples to re-calculate for other then original tires, or to check the original. The needed data are asked on the first opening sheet, collect them and fill in, and you will see who is right.

re-calculating tyre-pressure

click on the document you want to use, at the end of the line the I in blue , then at the right barr the info will appear about it. Choose download, after viruscheck if wanted, you can open it in Excell or compattible program to use it.

In the browser wont work, because it cant handle some things I used in it.

If You cant work it out, ask me here or give me the detailes read from the car and tyres, and I will do it for you.

Fabia tyre pressures

I'm sure it used to be a sticky thread, but I couldn't find it. I used search instead.

Can someone please tell me what my tyre pressure should be (or direct me to a reliable website). I have a 2010 Fabia Mark 2 Combi 1.6TDI. The tyres are 185/60 R14. For unladen the diesel lid indicates 210/2.1 for front and 220/2.2 for rear. But some of the webistes I've looked at (including the one below) give higher pressures for the front so I'm a little confused. Thanks a mil

mINE- 2004 1.4TDI. I run 185/65/14 as ive found them better than 185/60, and stick to Skoda pressures of 2.1 front/2.0 bar. Years ago I needed new tyres and daugter had just scrapped a Renault with 185/65/14, and had these almost mint. Found a great difference so now fit 185/65/14 , but ntice that sone are better than others.

Thanks - I'll try the 65s next time. And I assume that's 2.1 front/2.0 rear

I run mine at 2 bar for front and 2.1 at rear. I check them regularly as its an old car and the alloys tend to leak slightly at bead seal. Never haad a problem with steel rims but all my alloys seam to leak after time. Resealed one with black sealant the other day as it was reccomended for rusty corroded rims by the tyre service I use and so far its worked well. I run 195/50R15 GT radial all season and prefer them to the 185/55 r15 part worn that were fitted as a temp measure as when we bought the car it had rediculous large tyres on it 195/70 r15. May have been from a Golf but the car was like driving a space hopper plus they are about 3" bigger diameter which confused the hell out of the speedo They just fitted but not by much.

@Alasdair1 Was the car lifted?

That is the OEM size of tyres on a Gen 4 Suzuki Jimny.

The size difference is a lot. We bought the car for my son to learn to drive. The guy who had it before was into mountain biking so I reckon he put bigger tyres on for extra clearance. The car handled terribly. Sort of bounced along the road and steering was not what you would call positive. Tended to follow dips etc in road.  I put a cheap set of part worn tyres on it to see and it made a huge difference then as winter was coming got GT radial all season. The car runs great now and the grip in the wet for all season is excellent. Guy at the tyre service said that he had never seen a car with such daft tyres.
