Head Room

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Just purchased an 03 Elegance 1.9 Tdi and what a great car it is too  . Just one minor problem, even with the seat adjusted right down, because of the sunroof, head room is a bit of an issue (I'm 6' 2"). I'm considering having the interior roof played with i.e. some of the padding taken out. Ideally I would like this done professionally, so could anyone recommend someone who could tackle this? I live on the south coast but am willing to travel a fair distance.

Any advice gratefully received....

H :)

mmmm in also 6' 2" and in my vrs with seat all the way down with spiky hair i have loads of head room....

i wouldnt go chopping bits from the roof lining...

Hi,

6' 3" with a maniacle haircut but still have loads of room.

Fiddle with the adjustments some more, you'll soon get it spot on.

I'm 5'11" and tend to sit fairly upright.

I've got just enough headroom in the Octavia where my Fabia had plenty.

I think the sunroof doesn't help matters (didn't have one in the Fabia)

Im 6ft 2" and my last octavia was no problem with sunroof.

I take it you have the seat down to the bottom setting.

Wot about the recline position ?

Usually fine adjustment with height & recline will give an excelent position ( dont forget the reach & rake on the steering wheel )

Steve

I'm 6'6" and although the seat is reclined slightly, I don't have any problems; the car also has the sunroof so it can't be that.

Could it be that the foam in the seat hasn't settled yet?

Not in my case, the Fabia was new and I got the Octavia with 13000 miles on the clock.

It could be the sunroof still. At 6'6" you'll be sitting further back and nearer the middle or high point of the roof, so the sunroof isn't a factor in your case.

I tend to sit quite close to the steering wheel and very upright.

Perhaps I should learn to relax and recline more :D

I'm 6'3" and don't have any problems.

Even on trackdays with a lid on i have plenty of room.

Thanks for the replies guys. I've played around with all the settings -especially the height adjustment mechanism but am still having probs  The car goes in for a service Friday so I'll ask at the garage if there's anything that can be done. I think the sunroof is the main culprit - i.e. the mechanics lower the head room available :(

Thanks again all who repied!

I'm 6'2'' (long torso ;) )and I find the front seat height adjustment on the Fabia VRS a bit of a joke. Definitely designed for midgets  . On the lowest setting its livable (just), but nowhere near as low as I'd like. The highest setting would have my head up through the sunroof (if it had one). Also the lack of passenger seat height adjustment (and windy up windows in the back) is very poor, considering the car retailed at +

6'2", and wide too (big wings, not flab  )...no problem in my fabsy with headroom or leg room. No problem fitting in a 'tavia either.

You sure you're not 7 feet tall or somethin'?

I fit in ok,, just feels a bit as though I'm sitting on top of the car rather than in it. The seat adjustment range is large, however it starts from too high (lowest setting) and goes up to a height Tom Thumb would find excessive.

The seat height adjustment on the Golf GTI IV had the same problem. Maybe its a VW thing, although my last car, a Lupo GTI was much better.

The best seats (for me) were on the Civic Type-R ... and they weren't adjustable for height.

the type r seats are fantastic though...

i dont have any trouble in my octy RS then again i'm only 5'11"
