Featured Replies

ok peeps, my car sufferers no hesitancy, most peoples gripes were when simply completing a roundabout in drive, I've done a short vid of this, hope it helps, no delay , instantaneous throttle response as seen, please comment and your own experiances, i.e is it different ect..

no time to do anythng else today, but as promised, I will do more vids, sport mode, paddles, faster take off, slower stop start traffic ect ect.. hope to buil a vid thread to show what I consider a gearbox working properly, just to see if otehrs really do have a probmel..

Thanks!

Great video mate, although i'm more impressed with your MPG on the video !! What is your average normally?

Mine is 27 at the moment although i've only done 1000 miles !!

Mines just like yours no problems use a light foot (very light) to get it rolling and then accelerate as hard as you like.

When I first got the car it did seem have to be a bit of hesitancy there but I was trying to pull out at junctions/roundabout using much more throttle. I’m not sure if it’s the dsg software, traction control or ESP but there did seem to be something causing a delay.

I have solved it by adapting my driving style, previously I had manuals and I think I was pushing my foot down on the throttle as far and as fast as I would with a manual pulling out of a junction.

Now I just use a wisp of throttle then once it’s rolling accelerate away as normal. I guess it’s the equivalent of the clutch bight point on a manual were you let the clutch out on a fixed throttle then once moving start to accelerate away harder.

depends on how I'm driving, that was A-road traffc, and roundabouts..(see below for more on that technique) tend to average about 40 with my "spirited" driving, cand go down to 20's if i'm on a meet, and driving it like I stole it, can get it up into the 50's if I try hard!

well on that sort of A-road - roundabout driving its easy, as with anything else if fact... simply don't brake. I accelerate quite well, overtake ect ect, but see how often I brake at the roundabaout? only from about 20 mph , and then only slightly... (I was doing 60 before I turned the vid on...) but just by backing off early, and just letting it run on overru (where the ECU cuts fuel to the engine) any braking you do simply wastes the fuel you used to get up to speed in the first place...

1)don't be afraid of using hard throttle to accelerate (engines are most efficient on full throttle)

2) back off earlier... it will keep its speed for a while, backing off about 1/3 -1/2 earlier than you normally do, will make a huge difference, and negligable difference in progress...

note: this method is harder to use on different road types, but still sound :)

you got mpg and kmh in one screen ?

you got mpg and kmh in one screen ?

yup the kmph is always there, some law in this country about having to display kmph as well at the mph we use...

Great vid, demonstrates a vRS without any hesitation. Mine had the hesitancy for a few weeks but all cured now after I taught it a few lessons with the throttle :giggle: .

Hope somebody else was with you in the car operating the camera or I don't think the feds would be too impressed, 'driving without due care' and all that.... ;)

Excellent vid. Don't have mine yet but the one I test drove was like this and had about 6000 miles on it
