Show plates finally sorted out.

Featured Replies

Had a set of plates made up with my Briskoda username for when I

take pics of the car for on here and for events like Castle Combe.

It's a pain in the butt blanking out the reg when I post pics so

I had to make them fast to take off and put on so it's not a faff

or it's more bother than it's worth.

I've had the bits and pieces for a while but just haven't bothered

to get on and do it but I had a spare hour or two today so I got on with it.

I had the idea a while ago but I figured that a couple of those heavy duty

phone magnets stuck to the back of the show plate and a couple of self adhesive

steel panels (packaged with the magnets) stuck on the rear of the proper

numberplate would give them something to "hang on" to on the front whilst

the steel body of the tailgate would provide something to attract to

without needing the metal panels.

Turns out it worked a treat. I paid £1.99 each for the magnets and

used 2 for each plate.

I had to make a slight bend in the front one but managed that with a

hairdryer a rolling pin and some gaffer tape. (Don't ask...)

I wasn't happy with how it sat when it was dead straight.

Looks/fits much better with the slight curve.

Now I just place them over my numberplates and they stay put.

Wouldn't trust them to stay on while driving  :D

Things I do when I'm bored. :rofl::thumbup:

Kept me busy and happy for a bit today. Just a bit of fun really.

Thanks for looking.

Clever. Liking your novelty ideas Garry.

They look nice too, classy rather than chavy. Good job!

Did you notice your old grille?? :wonder:

Assuming Gareth bought it from you.

That's 3 different colours it's been now. :D

Used a plastic mesh but it's not finished yet so

it's cut from the pic. :bandit:

Ha just had a look again and noticed it this time! More pics when its done? Do quite miss it now to be honest! Made the front look more aggressive!

looks nice mate, I approve, like the darkside comment

Sorry to revive a thread bit i've got some show plates ready for Castle Combe in Septrmber and just wondered if the magnets you've got keep the plates on around the track and where did you get them from??

I searched phone magnets on ebay, but these are the ones I bought.

The rears should stick to the bodywork through the ordinary numberplate and I used

the metal tags that came with these on the front numberplate along with the two others.

I removed the front numberplate and stuck the metal tag thingys that come with each magnet to the

rear of the front numberplate. 2 on either side where the magnets are to be stuck.

I used 2 magnets per plate but for a better quality stick perhaps 4 for the front one

would be better.

Your front numberplate may require some bending first before it will sit right.

I never had the bottle to leave them on the car while I was on track.

I think the rear will stay put but the front one doesn't grip as well as the rear.

But with 4 magnets on the front, one in each corner. I reckon you'll have more luck.

are these show plates standard thickness/Weight? or are they lighter and thinner?

many guys over at detailingworld use them on their cars when taking pics - cool idea i reckon

but i would get funny looks from the neighbours if i was to put these on and take pics of the car lol

Standard thickness and weight mr biggy.

My neighbors have gotten used to my mucking about with cars

in my front garden by now.

I think snow foam got 'em staring the most :D
