200 mph MK2 Octavia Vrs

Featured Replies

glad the engineers achieved what they set out to attain.

regarding real life use ..... :giggle: :giggle: :giggle:

Yep - an Octavia Mk2 bodyshell went over 200mph

Then again Ford Pop replica funny cars probably do that at Santa Pod depending what's under the skin

I should have a go.....

Big turbo, diesel box...

"It retains its production-standard 2.0-litre four-cylinder TSI petrol engine but the standard turbo has been replaced with a more advanced unit from respected component firm Garret"

Apparently had a second set of injectors & Fuel rail (due to lack of available uprated injectors for the tsi engine) and strengthened internals.

Very impressive given this I think, although I doubt drivability will be a strong point.

Mine was good for 182mph (gps) before the latest turbo upgrade..... And that was just 5th gear.....I still had 6th to go!!!!

Go to a nice airfield and have a go lol,

Would love to see a vid of that

would be interesting to see a well sorted Octavia go round a very popular Airfield of the BBC :D How high up the board can we get????

Go to a nice airfield ...

Wouldn't Pendine Sands be more appropriate ?

I do like the idea of a brake chute - think how much fun it to use it on a motorway

I thought they had stopped vehicle access at Pendine

Never mind just read that link and its open since may 2010. shows I haven't been down there for a while, only get as far as Llanstephan nowdays to visit the boat club :D

When my b/inlaw was a student living in rented, they had a m/mower and once ran it on Methanol.

He told me it went like a bat out of hell, they couldnt stop it, then it chucked out loads of smoke and stopped.

Upon stripping it down found the piston had melted.

They already did a standard one ages back. Against the old Golf GTi. The GTi had it, but the Octy thrashed the GTi when they had to do a lap in REVERSE!

Edited by demonufo

Do you mean doing the lap backwards or literally in reverse gear, would have thought it would have took too long to do it in reverse gear, would take up most of the program lol.

Regards Dave

Literally in reverse gear!

Steve

Nooooooo !!! how did i miss that one, off to youtube now to try to find it.

I've gotta ask though, once you've done a race around the track, who in their right mind would say, "ok you won that one, but i bet i can reverse faster than you can ?"

Regards Dave

Youtube Video

41 mph in reverse gear !!!

That poor engine must have been screaming its head off.

Funny to watch though
