Front fog lamps on 2006 Fabia

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

I have a question from a rather confused Fabia driver, I hope someone can answer.

My N/S fog lamp is cracked and will need replaced at some point, but while inspecting it I found the bulb needed replaced (despite no warning from inside the cockpit!). Now the bulb I took out is a GE 9006U HB4 12V 51W which looks identical to this Toolboxshop - 9006 51W . However both my Haynes manual and other websites where you can look up the bulb type indicate it should be an H3 55W Halogen like these Powerbulbs - H3 55W. Now obviously I'll replace the bulb with the same one I took out but I'm a tad confused as to why the bulb on my car is different. Anyone any ideas? Has it been modified?

Additionally as a small aside, am I supposed to have only one rear fog light on my car? I have tried swapping bulbs, replacing them etc but nothing seems to work. They seem to be the double filament type but only one will ever light up! Switch problem?

Thanks in advance :)

Mike

No mate that's right, they are the same as the fog bulbs in our Fabia SDI

they are exactly right and they are standard fitment.

The fog bulbs in the vRS are like the second ones you described H3 55w.

The foglamps are physically completely different on the vRS to the other

post facelift fabia variants and I think that's what your sources are quoting.

And yes there is only supposed to be one rear fog lamp but you can

run a single wire from the live feed on the right rear foglamp to the left

rear foglamp live feed and then they'll both work.

Cheers for the help. I have now ordered new bulbs at a reasonable £8ish including delivery (for the pair).

Thanks for the tip on the rear fog lamps, I can going a bit mental there trying to get the damn thing to work! I'll think about the bodged wiring, but I don't think it's too critical. But weird having only one as standard to be honest though.

The cracked unit will have to wait until I can find a reasonable scrap dealer, or until the sticky back plastic stops holding the broken glass together :giggle:

Cheers,

Mike
