Black Surround Headlights On eBay....

Featured Replies

xaosx has them I think.

They are the depo headlights you sometimes hear about on here.

I was eyeing these up myself ;)

Surely it would be much cheaper to split yours and paint the inserts?

Guide here

Haha at least you're honest :D

I have a set in my VRS - I bought them when I had to rebuild my front end front hitting a deer 2 years ago. The 2 upper mounts where the bolts go through are very brittle and all of mine had snapped - with just simply replacing a bulb!!! Other than that they do an ok job - The sidelight bulb holders are smaller than the std ones, so if you have LED sidelights they will get stuck in the headlights! You have been warned!!!

That doesnt sound good...

I assumed they were oem headlights that they had just customised to have the black inserts in place. I might spend my £100+ on ben and jerrys ice cream, if there as fragile as you say they are!

I'll take pics of them later if you like - both headlights have selftapping screws holding the clips in the right place - they cant be glued as I tried that - all I have been trying the do was fit a new headlight bulb - as i did so both clips on each headlight snapped. when I questioned the seller about it as I had just fitted the headlights that day - his reply was "its just one of them things" - I wouldnt bother with them!

cheers for that heads up mate, ill think ill pass on them. They do look nice, but I dont fancy fitting poor quality components to any part of my car. Espically with aftersales like that. GOD BLESS EBAY!

If it's the same ebay seller that I got mine from, then I would avoid. He's an idiot.

Pretty sure mine were faulty, or I got sent the wrong ones(?) as there was something in the ball joint ... thing ... where the OE automatic leveler is supposed to go that needed to be removed, according to the instructions, that just would not budge on one of them. Sent them back for refund, and apparently they were "lost in the post". I've never had anything lost in the post before in my life. No refund.

I would also say they (DEPO) are also low quality items anyway. Certainly wouldn't bother again, even if it was a decent ebay seller.

Paint your own as others said. Cost a 10th of the price

Matt

I managed to find ones with black inserts for about 70 odd quid, they are out there, just got to keep searching.

The best thing about them is that they got the original part number on them, the Hella logo and also the Skoda logo.

I agree. I recently replaced one of my headlights with a Depo one and wasn't impressed by the quality. When I fitted the dipped bulb it was very loose with the clips in place. I had to remove the wire clip and bend it to make a better clamp. The main beam clamp was OK though. I think next time I will go for a proper Hella one.

Yeah, I had to do that as well... before I found out that I wasn't able to get the leveler motor in.

Mine didnt have the holes cut into the plastic to fit the leveling motors!!

I'm saving up for a genuine set of black headlights from my local stealer!
