Wind Deflectors in Rain

Featured Replies

In heavy rain the water streams over the side windows making the mirrors useless. Was the same on my last Fabia 2 despite using rainx on the windows.

Has anyone any experience of wind deflectors, do they stop this?

Fitted them to my seat altea sport, load of crap and when you give car good wash with hose pipe bl@@dy water will get in through the top

Got them on my Roomster and totally the opposite to the previous poster! I've found them fine!! Their main advantage is to allow you to open the window a little when its raining and not get rain water all over you... Never had an probs seeing the mirrors, don't know if they help there or not, though...

I have them on my Fabia and they do the job pefectly. I also use Rain-x but I think it is probably not necessary.

Thanks for the feedback. Will order a set and let you know how I get on.

I found this last week when heading down the M6. I found that if I did around 70ish (slightly above to be honest) the rain stream moved up away from the mirror! Not much help when it's pouring down so heavily that you're desperate to be in the inside lane doing 40!

Definately a problem this streaming on the windows , when in normal driving mode ( within speed limits) the water stream when raining sits along the level of the mirrors so in traffic this creates a problem as it like looking through a bowl or custard

I had deflectors on my old MK5 Ibiza and they worked a treat :) want some for the Fab but not sure they will go with the colour scheme

Just be careful when fitting the fronts. I have removed and refiited mine without too much trouble but the supplying dealer managed to break 3!?! of them when fitting them when I first bought the car. Then attempting to replace the broken one and then another replacement for that! Also if they are not fitted spot on sometimes they can slip slightly when the windo is open causing the electric window to re-open when you try to close them because it has detected an obstruction. This always happens when a downpour has just started and you are doing 70 on the motorway :wonder:

They need to be fitted when weather is nice and warm(next march then) you will get some metal staples that push in to the top of the window frame but they can slip down, I had mine from a Herman firm they were fine but will let water in if you stick the hose pipe behind when washing the car :(

Will wind deflector produce or reduce cabin noise while driving in 60mph? :)
