New VRS front brakes

Featured Replies

Can someone recommend a place to get a new set of discs and pads for the front. I happy fitting them myself, just not sure what i should be paying, cheers!

Vwspares, got mine from there.

At some point this year I will need new front discs. I have a simple question. Does the whole calliper have to be removed from the hub to change the disc or can you just leave the carrier on?

:D

Do not buy these!!

Just a word of warning, brought a set of these for the back aswel from ebay, even the same selling I think and had nothing but problems. Track brakes, never could get them up to temp unless i drove like a nutter & wouldnt stop squealing while driving along, and I wasnt even touching the brakes. In the end i replaced them for Apex standards.

i had them mintex ones off ebay all round until recently without any probs.....

as an alternative go to Euro car parts and get pagid discs n pads.

pagid.

Remember that Pagid are an OE manufacturer (they supply a lot of the VAG Group) and to use the Briskoda 25% Discount :)

very happy with my pagid discs and pads

The discs are painted so resist rusting better than most

and look far better through the wheel B)

They'll be going on the rear next time I'm due a change.

As described by member peter3197

I have had two sets of these over the years, (back and front), found them very efficient and certainly no need to get up to a certain temperature.

Maybe I was just lucky.??

I got a set or standard Brembo discs and pad all round from nextdaybrakes.com.

Cheaper than Eurocarparts and I'm very impressed with the performance.

HTH.

Interestingly, pagid and mintex are both made by TMD according to this website - Link

You are correct Mintex, Pagid and Textar are made by TMD Friction. I know because I have worked at one of their factories in Hartlepool a few times.

Their website: http://www.tmdfriction.com/

Yup - The TMD group are one of the leaders in brake technology in Europe (if not the world)

Pagid are their OEM quality pads, which come off the same production line as the originals, All their pads are made in Europe.

Mintex is their cheaper brand, sourced from various manufacturers, but not recognised as the same quality as their Pagid, Their OE Quality brand.
